Biography

Nadia Ovchinsky, MD, MBA, is Director of Pediatric Hepatology and Medical Director of Pediatric Liver Transplantation at Children's Hospital at Montefiore. She is also an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Her clinical focus is on the treatment of children who have liver disease. Her special expertise is caring for patients around the time of liver transplantation-preparing them for a successful transplant and managing their recovery. Dr. Ovchinsky has been with Montefiore since 2014. Dr. Ovchinsky received her Master of Business Administration in Healthcare Management in 2001 at Rutgers University Graduate School of Management. In 2002, she received her Doctor of Medicine at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. Dr. Ovchinsky completed an internship and residency in Pediatrics at Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital of New York Presbyterian, becoming Chief Resident in 2006. She completed a fellowship in Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition in 2009 at the same institution. Dr. Ovchinsky's research interests include improving the quality of care and enhancing the delivery of care for children who have chronic liver disorders, developing noninvasive techniques to predict outcomes in children with liver disease, and optimizing long-term outcomes of pediatric liver transplantation. Her work has been presented internationally at invited lectures, and published in numerous reviewed journals, books, and review articles. Dr. Ovchinsky has been a recipient of numerous teaching and humanism in medicine awards. She is board certified in Pediatric Transplant Hepatology, Pediatric Gastroenterology, and Pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics.
