After a prostatectomy for prostate cancer, I had severe incontinence. I saw Dr. Chichakli who advised me that he thought the male sling would work for me. In my research the male sling was a usually only for those with light incont - those with severe required AUS. So I saw Chichakli to discuss. I wanted AUS, he assured me that the male slings are better. He said I might still use one light pad a day but that it would be a dramatic improvement. I asked him how many AUS surgeries he had performed, he said ‘a few’ but he had done a lot of male slings. This doctor who is very convincing, I just wanted to trust him. So I said ‘OK, let’s do the male sling. I had the surgery and no problems. Shortly I could feel leaking again. I saw him for my follow-up and he said ‘no worries, that will happen from time to time’. Then it got worse. After 2 months I was using more pads than I was before. Now I have to find another doctor to do the AUS and to fix what Dr Chichakli messed up.
