Dr Erika DeGayner is an excellent doctor. She has performed two egds and 4 colonoscopys on me. She saved my life when she recognized the extreme amount of weight I had lost in the short period of time since she had seen me. She won't hesitate to tell you if she doesn't know the answer to something, but will find it out for you. She took my case to Henry Ford due to my special circumstances. She is not a frilly, personable, let's chat about nothing kind of doctor. She's straight to the point, which I prefer. She's on time with her patients, never having to wait forever in her office. Her office staff is there to collect information to better care for you. The endoscopy staff are not her employees. They are the only people that I've had issues with. Doctors aren't supposed to be our friends, although I trust her with my life.

I have had 2 prior EGDs done with dilation at Beaumont and had to switch Drs. Her reviews were horrible but I am having trouble swallowing again so my Primary referred me here for the procedure. She did a biopsy on my throat which I have had two of before but no dilation. When i woke up and was told no dilation I was furious. I still have trouble swallowing and the medication provided does not fix my immediate need. Yes long term it does but short term it does not. Erika you tell me to see you in 3 months if I need a dilation? Why did I come in for the procedure in the first place? This seems like an insurance fraud to me so I will be filing a complaint and doing my due diligence to make sure she gets properly audited and reviewed from Internal and Third Party. As other reviews state- Erika DeGayner is rude, disrespectful, talks at patients and not to them, does not address immediate needs of patients, is highly critizing of Ascension, disrespectful to referring physicians.

I went several years ago . She did a scope and colonoscopy and just shrugged her shoulders and said, I don’t know. No further advice or suggestions! Never going back. Not much compassion!

This doctor was awful, cut me down and wouldn’t let me talk at all, talked to me like I’m a child, wouldn’t listen to what I was saying basically told me to control my anxiety

Not a rating, but I am utterly shocked to read these reviews. How has no one reported this doctor to her board? She has to adhere to a certain code of ethics. Repeated misdiagnoses and malpractice, rude bedside mannerism... this really seems like an ethical issue and needs to be reported.

I had been seeing Dr. Degayner for a couple of years. She diagnosed me with Crohn's disease, instantly started me on Remicade. She was always argumentative with me when I would go see her. Her nurse was also very combative with me. I gave up going to her because it was a constant battle with her and I had enough. I went and saw another gastroenterologist from her group. He did a Prometheus test and colonoscopy. 1) I do NOT care any genetic factors for Crohn's. Secondly, the biopsies done on my colonoscopy showed absolutely no signs of Crohn's disease. She diagnosed me with Crohn's because she saw a red spot on my colonoscopy. Mind you I'd been to the u of m hospital as well dealing with their gastrology department. Again no Crohn's. So she put me on a highly experimental drug that induced lupus and now that I'm off the remicade, I now have more addition auto immune disorders caused from years of remicade. It's upsetting that she never listened to me and now I'm worse off than before.

Airhead Erika, DO (Down & Out) presented as overtly inconvenienced by my presence. Her attire paralleled that of a 9th grader, and intelligence (in my opinion) wasn't too far off either. Refused to further pursue issues presented in labs. Was oblivious to several aspects of labs, and overall seemed incapable of balancing her insecurity with her poor working memory (again, in my opinion) in the process of examining labs. Following refusal, Erika offered her philosophy on medicine that could be described as shoddy at best: If the issue were serious, "you wouldn't have faired well." Translation?: I'd be dead already. I have got to ask: How would a jury respond to such a statement? Not as smart as you think, Erika, and most lawyers would be overjoyed to go after a doctor like this. To the staff that appeared visibly uncomfortable in her presence, I hope you enjoy this review. Somebody in that office better fill her in that it is not flattering for a woman of her age to wear Rue 21-looking clothes! PATIENTS BEWARE.

Dr Deganer explained listed to everything that was going on and I think she did a good job ordering labs and procedures to rule out anything and to see what was going on. She did a good job explaining everything. The staff was friendly and appointments were on time

You know, I think the staff is awful because they have to work for her. This doctor was so condescending I was just stunned. I asked a question and she rolled her eyes like I was a complete idiot, then started talking to me like I was a baby because I'm so stuipd
. I'll never go there again. What a bitch.

extremely condescending, acting as if the high and mighty is doing you a favor just being there.
One would think with the increasingly negative reputation this office is getting she and her
sister Larkin would wake up and smell the coffee. NEVER AGAIN.
