I saw Dr. Patel at the Opelika, AL Urgent Care. She had a terrible bedside manner. She was very rude and judgmental. I felt like I was being “looked down” upon while speaking with her. She asked several questions, including if I had ever had children, then did not believe me when I told her no. She asked if I was sure I had never had children. My husband happened to be in the room with me for support. She started drilling him with questions about his own health and made him to feel very much judged as well. She left the room without telling me she was finished seeing me. I finally had to go out and ask the front desk if I was finished, and I was. I did not get a clear diagnosis of the problem I was having. Staff was very friendly and wait time was very short.

I totally agree with the previous reviewer. Dr. Patel now works at Urgent Care in Opelika, AL. I was visiting my daughter who is a student at AU, and had an unbearable migraine with nausea/vomitting. Dr. Patel questioned me at length about where I lived, why I was in the area, why I was a "stay at home mom" instead of "working or at LEAST volunteering somewhere". (Yes, she said that to me). She questioned me at length about my relatives who I cared for. She REFUSED to give me a shot for my unbearable pain and told me that my chart said I was allergic to a medication that I knew I was not, but she continued to argue with me and REFUSED to give me anything. She also asked me how often I had to get a shot to stop/treat a migraine and I told her every 2 or 3 months. She told me that narcotics are bad and that I need to stay away from them. Yes, that would be nice IF I could prevent them, I most certainly would. I WOULD NOT recommend her to ANYONE!

This 'doctor' is a joke for worker's comp exams. I was examined and told I did not have an injury yet I had pain and continued to have pain for 3 weeks. I raised enough sand that I was offered a 2nd opinion and told I DID have an injury and hopefully it could be helped with physical therapy instead of surgery. Dr. Patel is more interested in her kickbacks from the insurance company for denying WC claims than she is treating you as the patient. And making the injured feel as if they have to defend themselves and their injury when seeking treatment is totally unprofessional. I left her office feeling like I was being accused of being a sue happy drug addict, and still in pain---because I DO have an injury. I would not recommend her if you are seroius about your treatment.
