I recently had Dr. Prefontaine do a full hysterectomy on me for ovarian cancer. I have healed so well so fast, after hearing other peoples experiences I am sure it was his skill and the skill of his team that has allowed me to be on my feet and feeling so much better within three weeks. He was kind and understanding. Professional and willing to take into account my personal beliefs. I am so grateful for people like this who are capable and able to save lives and who really have the compassion for others to perform such difficult matters.

Dr. Prefontaine operated on me for stage 4 uterine cancer back in 2000. It was a scary time back then but he was very reassuring in manner, knowledge of his field, and surgical skill. He was also very conscientious on follow-up visits, both days after and also over the ensuing 5 years. He even cared about my personal life as my husband died of cancer montha after my surgery; Dr Prefontaine was most sympathetic. I've been "clean" ever since and my scarring relatively minimal. He saved my life. I wish my husband had had doctors as competent and caring as he.

Dr. PreFontaine was unprofessional when he berated a very sick patient (adenocarcinoma with metatastesis to all female organs and half of colon) in front of his residents and interns when she complained she was too sick to go home. Shortly thereafter (within an hour) she started spitting up coffee grind looking blood and was kept in the hospital for a longer period of time. He stated that "she was just showing off for her parents". Not a good professional way to act.

He is a wonderful doctor - caring, kind and always there for his patients. Uses diagnostic tests to confirm that his diagnosis is correct which removes any guesswork. He is extremely thorough and cautious when making decisions. He is not "rude" as described in another comment, but rather quiet and calm. I think he is a brilliant doctor and his knowledge is unquestionable. Since becoming Dr. Prefontaine's patient, I have been correctly diagnosed, treated, and helped tremendously.
