I saw Dr. Beckner routinely for about 4 years, and stayed with him out of a sense of trust based on his well acclaimed knowledge and willingness to teach me. Over the years I felt like my issues were hand waved and always classified as symptoms of depression and anxiety, but I tried to trust anyway. I have later discovered that many of my symptoms are in fact diagnosable and treatable. I also found out it's unethical to overbook yourself as a medical provider, which he often did, only seeing me once or twice a year. He also refused to help me get approved for disability in spite of my having many disabling conditions. Since I ceased the relationship, he has turned me over to a debt collector in spite of the fact that I had a good history of paying him.

I came to Beckner after a string of semi-competent psychiatrists who were little more than professional pill pushers. He is the opposite. In fact, the best psychiatrist I have had. Willing to listen, to entertain ideas as to diagnosis and alternate methods of treatment. Very knowledged, very good, and capable of stating when he the case is outside his familiarity. (Which is why I kept him.) Great staff. Because he is connected to the hospital system, sometimes his schedule will get messed up so there occasional waits. But he is always attentive and accomodating.
