Biography

David Hu was born and raised in New York. He attended New York University where he earned his Bachelor of Arts and Medical degrees. Dr. Hu completed his residency training and served as Chief Resident in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Miami. Dr. Hu has been practicing psychiatry and addiction medicine in a variety of settings for more than 15 years and is now excited to begin private practice based in Wellington to serve the western communities of Palm Beach County, FL. David Hu, MD is a psychiatrist and a member of the American Psychiatric Association. He is board certified in psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Dr. Hu has practiced in a variety of mental health settings including Jerome Golden Center for Behavioral Health (formerly Oakwood Center). Dr. Hu has expertise in psychopharmacology and treats a wide array of mental health conditions including depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, insomnia and PTSD. Dr. Hu is a member of the American Society of Addiction Medicine. He is board certified in addiction medicine by the American Board of Preventative Medicine. Since 2015, Dr. Hu has served as the Medical Director at Behavioral Health of the Palm Beaches, an addiction treatment center based in Palm Beach County, FL. Dr. Hu treats a range of substance use disorders including alcoholism, nicotine dependence and opioid addiction. Dr. Hu is waivered to prescribe buprenorphine for the treatment of opioid dependence.
