The worse clinic and doctors I've ever seen in my whole life, they do not know what they are doing and they treat you bad, never never go see them

Dr. Alavi is great, but his office is horribly run. The staff is utterly incompetent and never follows up or does things they say they will. They are wildly overbooked, appointments run an hour or more late, even first thing in the morning. But mainly, they have horrible communication with other providers. They don't send records or contact other doctors as directed by Dr. Alavi, and basically fail to carry out anything they promise. EVERY update requires multiple phone calls to get them to do what they said they would. Dr. Alavi was instrumental in saving my life, but I might need to find another office because the staff is so useless.

Dr, Ali has been consistently late for appointments. I have had to wait at least 30 minutes beyond my appointment time each time I've had an appointment with him. The last time was the last straw. I was scheduled for a biopsy at 9:30. I arrived early. I was prepped for the biopsy and waited 45 minutes. No one came into my room to say he was running behind. So, I decided I could wait no longer. I dressed and left the room. I told the receptionist to tell Dr. Alavi that I got tired of waiting. It has now been a week since I had the appointment, and still no call from him or his office staff to apologize. I don't not plan to see him ever again and will definitely not recommend him to anyone I know. He maybe a very learned urologist, but his concern for my time was non existent!

Dr. Ali Alavi – Fullerton Urology, Fullerton CA

I was refereed to Dr. Alavi by my primary care physician when my PSA numbers were suspiciously high.

Upon my initial visit with Dr. Alavi he recommended performing a Prostate Biopsy in order to determine if the cause of my elevated numbers was cancer. Two weeks later said biopsy was performed by Dr. Alavi after which I made a follow-up appointment for the reading of the results. This follow-up meeting is in essence the reason for this public review.

When Dr. Alavi entered the examination room where I was waiting, His first words were “I have some bad news and I have some good news. The bad news is you have cancer. The good news is we caught it early”. Only someone who was in my exact position at that exact time could understand the flood of emotions and questions rushing in at light speed.

He sat down and did ask me how and what I was feeling. He did offer hope for a positive outcome based on my low pathology scores. I feel I do need to acknowledge that much. However, this is where it took a dark turn.

He handed me a book about Prostate Cancer and told me to read it while making an appointment with a radiation therapist (of their choosing) for consolation. Then, come back in two weeks and discuss how I wanted to proceed. At this point he was on his way out the door of the examination room and on to his next patient.

I started to press him about the options, side effects, recommendations, etc. like any normal person would do after 10 minutes earlier being told they had prostate cancer. He told me he did not have the time to go into the whole subject of Urology and again told me to read the book. At this point he was starting to become irritated with me. Again, I pressed with more questions at which point he said “Read the stupid book and come back in two weeks”! He exited the room and basically left me there in an utter state of shock.

After relating this experience to my family and friends, I was encouraged to seek another Urologist at which I agreed. The next week I was at Keck Medicine of USC where my now new Urologist took more than an hour to lay out all of the options, side effects, recommendations, etc, etc. to me and my wife. I was treated with a level of empathy and care you would expect. Within two days I had decided on surgery to have my prostate removed which was the best option given my low numbers. NOT RADIATION as hinted at my Dr. Alavi.

Dr. Alavi should have taken the exact same approach with me upon delivering my diagnosis.
He should have carved out an hour of his schedule to do so. But with group clinics like Fullerton Urology, it’s all about quantity not quality. A University setting like USC does operate that way.

It gets better. Four months later I received a Denial of Service letter from my insurance company for a test Dr. Alavi ran without my knowledge. A test which cost in excess of five thousand dollars. This specific test involved gene mapping using my biopsy samples. Not only did he use an Out-Of-Network lab, but did so without my approval. A test by the way, was completely unnecessary as confirmed by USC.

Two weeks ago, my prostate surgery was performed and the pathology results confirmed the cancer was contained. Had I continued with Dr. Alavi I would probably be on radiation which as I stated, should have never been given as a viable option. Oh, and this Radiation Therapist I spoke of? He was refereed by Fullerton Urology.

As a result of my experience, I cannot in good conscience recommend Dr. Ali Alavi.
Always get a second opinion.

I meat Dr ./Ali the problem with him he doesn't have a knowledge and the way he is talking is rue actually I'm surprised how he got his license

Excellent office with plenty of parking which has been hard to find in the area. (Busy medical area) Dr. Alavi was a really nice and down to earth doctor.

Dr Alavi has always been extremely caring, nice and thorough with me. Office staff are great, just seem a bit busy with patients.

My father had an appointment with Dr Alavi last Thursday on August 24th at 1:15pm. My dad is a handicap and he was at nursing home for a while...
When he came to Drs office, he was carried by assist transportation. When the staffs at Drs office saw him comng, they refused to help him. Melissa, one of ladies at the counter told me to go back and make an appt another time.. so i told her he has to see dr urgently...
They made my dad one and a half hour there because my dad is a handicap.
I never saw anyone treating a handicap this badly.
They have no sympathy for an old handicapped man .

Do not go to this Dr. He does not care about his patients. He hung up on my Mother He was going to call her in a prescription but she took too long finding the number she does not see well and he hung up on her. So if you want a Dr. who cares do no got to him. I called back and he told the exchange to tell her to go to er he couldn't help her.

Months ago I went to see Dr. Alavi in Marinelli & Feldman office. His young nurse is HORRIBLE, she lacks compassion. She is arrogant, rude, she did everything possible to try and humiliation and embarrass me. She disclosed confidential medical information about my illness and treatment within hearing range of other staff members and patients. Apparently she thinks something is humorous and degrading about cancer testing and medical procedures. She has few or no people skills. She has no regard for your dignity or privacy. I will not be going back, ever. She violated the federal HIPAA privacy laws. Dr. Alavi, Marinelli & Feldman staff needs to be retrained on the HIPPA privacy laws and the Code of Ethics for Nurses and this nurse need to be fired. The 3 doctors need to re-evaluate office procedures and staff performance. This is completely inappropriate behavior for any medical office and especially for a urologists office.
