Dr. Matthews and his staff are very professional, courteous, and caring. My husband and I have known Dr. Matthews for over seven years, and we have resolved to continue seeing him after we moved away from Gulf Breeze 3 years ago. During my recent visit, I was impressed once again by their excellent service as a team. Sonia went an extra mile in scheduling my appointment addressing an issue indicating cancer risk. Hope (NP) was attentive in asking questions and thoughtfully offered me special bandages for protection. Upon thorough examinations, Dr. Matthews clearly explained the issue and its potential risks and solutions, patiently answered my questions, and comprehensively offered instructions and next steps to take. While being an esteemed and knowledgeable physician, he was extraordinarily amiable and compassionate, naturally treating his patients like friends or families. We are blessed to have him as our primary care physician.

Absolute worst experience with medical staff in my entire 63 years on the planet. On my first scheduled visit with Dr. Matthews (29 Nov) they decided to close the clinic to take an extended holiday weekend, great, but they forgot to tell the scheduled patients! Made a 26 mile roundtrip for nothing, they were closed! Even got a text message reminder the day before (28 Nov) for my appointment!
A scheduler by the name of Mary Grace called the following Monday and apologized profusely for their mistake. On my next visit to Dr. Matthew's office (7 Jan) they told me they didn't accept my coverage after I arrived, keep in mind my appointments were scheduled between Triwest Health Care reps. and Dr. Matthew's schedulers, so how did they suddenly NOT take the coverage/insurance? The receptionist was completely clueless and extremely patronizing. ANOTHER 26 mile round trip for nothing! I can't can't comment on Dr. Matthews personally, never got the chance to see him, but I can say the staff I dealt with were terrible.

Dr. Matthews has been my physician for over 20 years. He has provided me consistently with outstanding care. He is a consummate professional. He treats his patients like family and is very caring. I absolutely trust him with the care of all my family and friends. I very highly recommend him.

Excellent physician - I have been with Dr. Matthews since 2004 and highly recommend him as a family doctor. He has a very congenial personality and he really cares about his patients.
He has a great bedside manner, takes the time to learn about your situation and thoroughly answers any questions you may have. He will recommend you see a specialist if warranted.
The office staff is friendly and very courteous.

I would recommend Dr. Matthews to anyone, his staff is very helpful and professional, I visit his office 8 to 10 times a year, he is always very punctual, his knowledge of my special problem is appreciated and I value his care for me. He will always refer me to a specialist if necessary, and I have special needs that require several specialists. My experience with Dr. Matthews has been a life saver for me.

Dr Matthews has been my doctor for more than 30 years, except the couple of years he spent in Highland. He has always been pleasant and attentive to my needs and not afraid to send you to a specialist if he sees the need.

I highly recommend Dr. Matthews! The office is very conveniently located and the waiting room is comfortable, not cold & institutional. His friendly staff puts you at ease from the moment you enter his office. If your looking for a physician who will spend time actually listening to you and making sure every question you have is thoroughly answered in a way you can understand, then you will be very pleased with your experience with Dr. Matthews. It quickly becomes obvious that he cares about not only providing high-quality medical care, but actually getting to know you and building a relationship. Simply stated, he doesn't rush through your appointment and devotes his full attention to you. He has a very warm and calming personality that is perfect for all ages. A true family doctor!

My husband and I have been seeing Dr. Matthews for over 20 years. He is efficient yet very caring and thorough. Also he is attentive, asking questions for clarification before making a diagnosis. We both feel that he is very knowledgeable yet takes the time to explain any test results and care options in terms that are easily understood. He has always been cheerful and confident. For a period of 3 years, while he was working in another state, we tried at least five different doctors and felt like we were herded in and out. Both of us are so very thankful that Dr. Matthews has returned to this area and we would recommend him to anyone without a moment's hesitation. He is the epitome of a Family Doctor.

Our primary care doctor is Richard S. Matthews we have been going to him since moving here in 2001. He treats both my husband and myself. He identifies your problem and treats or refers to a specialists if needed. He is very compassionate and takes time to listen to us explain what needs to be done and goes over test with you. You can tell he keeps up with changes he is very knowledgeable and skilled. He is the best we recommend him to anyone looking for a new Family Doctor.

Dr. Matthews is one of the most kindest, considerate and sincere doctor that I have had the pleasure of knowing. He is very thorough and knowledgeable with all of his patient's ailments and concerns. I have been acquainted with Dr. Matthews for over twenty years. He cared for both my mother and my mother-in-law, both of which lived to the age of 93. Both had very serious illnesses and many times Dr. Matthews was called by ER for guidance and advice regarding their treatment. He cared for both of them as if they were his mother. I am also a patient of his and feel very secure in his advice and treatment. He cares and speaks in layman's terms, and explains all tests so that one understands and is very kind about answering questions or concerns. I would highly recommend Dr. Matthews to anyone looking for a very professional, caring doctor. He is the modern day DR. Welby and Ben Casey rolled into one.
