AVOID! The 2 stallar reviews are shill reviews that Ive seen posted elsewhere. My daughter and I visited Dr. Magalhaes & Associates at Lenscrafters in Brockton, MA for routine eye exams. I was asked to provide my vision care insurance card and medical insurance card. At the time, I thought nothing of it, but later realized Magalhaes had filed a claim with the vision care insurance for the exams in addition to 6 claims with my medical insurance totaling $820 for treatment of a medical condition. I called Magalhaes' office to inquire and was told by his billing person that the medical condition was a headache. Magalhaes did nothing outside the scope of a routine eye exam to treat a headache, not even prescribe an aspirin. I contacted the MA Division of Professional Licensure and was informed Dr. John Magalhaes had disciplinary action for which you were reprimanded in 2002. Insurance doubel-dipping is illegal. I intend to pursue legal action. Magalhaes will be hearing from my attorney.

My family and I have been going to him for over a decade. The staff is always friendly having a smile for you even when they are extremely busy. From the moment I walk in the door I found myself in the BEST care. Dr. Magalhaes takes interest in his clients and their needs. It is obvious through in his exams and the time that he takes with you. Most people complain that doctors don't take enough time with them but here that will not be the situation. If you have questions he will take the time to answer them for you. I have had moments that my kid need care and I have ALWAYS been able to receive what is needed for them depleting any anxiety that I may be experiencing. He is great with kids. No problem if you are from out of state. My mother was visiting from out of state and needed immediate care and I made the call to the office and the response was, "Bring her right in. We will take good care of her." I could go on and on but my advice and reply would be,"Go find out for yourself."

Dr. John Magalhaes and Associates is a highly exceptional location for quality eye care.My family and I have been going to him for over a decade. The staff is always friendly having a smile for you even when they are extremely busy. From the moment I walk in the door I found myself in the BEST care. Dr. Magalhaes takes interest in his clients and their needs. He provides a thorough evaluation and takes the time with you. Most people complain that doctors don't take enough time with them but here that will not be the case. He will answer all your questions. I am a very busy mother and my kids have had moments that they needed care and I have ALWAYS been able to receive what is needed for them. He is great with the kids even with the ones that need extra patients. If you are on cacation and from out of state. That isn't an issue here. I could go on and on about positive experiences in our care but if you need more proof, well, my advice and reply would be, "Go find out for yourself."

Went for my son's visit. Was told 14 months ago we were charged for medical condition - floaters, never paid and was now at collections. I was never consulted at the time on this (my son was 13 at the time), my Eyemed insurance didn't pay because it was put through with a medical condition, and they said my health insurance wouldn't pay (bull - the policy would have paid). I never received a bill either. Customers beware - they will put through bull conditions to get more money out of you. Also, the desk staff is very rude and they are always, always late. Will never go there ever again.

I went for a visit, I got charged twice. They didn't even call me to return the money. I found out after a week that I was charged twice. Doctor told me something billing told me something else. I have to visit another doctor to find out what the real deal is.

I received a prescription that I paid for and the glasses are blurry to see. I found out through another Dr I have macular degeneration. They told me nothing about the tests. Watch out for these people. I've been warned by other to not go there. Never again!

I made an appointment in advance and ended up waiting an additional 45 minutes. The staff didn't take time to explain why there was such a long wait. When I saw Dr. Magalhaes, he rushed me in to do my eye exam and contact fitting. He didn't take note that I had an astygmatism so when I was about to leave, I asked him about it and he had to write me a new prescription atthe front desk. Imagine if I didn't say anything? He didn't take time to inform me of what the difference in toric lenses were. When I ordered my contacts to be sent to my house for the year's supply, the wrong prescription was sent. Overall, very unhappy with the whole experience.

Went in for my eye exam and a contact fitting exactly one year ago on 11/4/11, went to order more contacts online this Dec. 2012. The Dr. would not approve my order because my script expired on 11/4/12, the office told me i need another eye exam and contact fitting, even though my insurance only covers and exam every 2 yrs, so they wanted me to pay out of pocket for and eye exam and another $90 fitting fee, what a joke. I never had an issue prior to his w/ any other eye dr. This place is a hack and a joke and always are tying to sell you on add'l stuff and contact fittings....BEWARE...I wouldn't recommend them to my worst enemy...not only that when i called to discuss my issue multi people from the office call me back trying to set up and appt when thats not what i called for....screw you DR. Magalhaes.

I've gone to Dr. Magalhaes for 11 years as well as my family. He helped find my Diabetes and I am forever grateful for this. His office is very clean, I know the staff by name, and he spends as much time with me as I need. I've never had a problem with billing or contacting his office. My insurance recently changed and I would rather pay out of pocket than switch doctors
