I almost don't know where to begin after being told that my only problems are lifestyle and learned helplessness, given that extensive testing has later confirmed that I am autistic and I have OCD. Oh and things like concussions that he inquired about on the intake forms but completely dismissed--those matter. He later walked back that comment via creepy, cryptic answering machine message that prompted me to take what sounded like a garbled "Milan Clinical". Right, and I was just supposed to line up a proctor, come up with several grand, and have that done by the next time I saw him in addition to the once a week and almost $200 a pop with no receipt that he was already demanding of my life. The straw that broke the camel's back was when I had gone a whole 2 weeks without seeing him and he took it upon himself to cancel my badly needed appointment with the psychiatrist for medication management, because I needed to see him again first before that could happen. He did this on a Friday at after 4:50 pm knowing that I would have to stew all weekend and wonder what would become of my appointment with the psychiatrist the following Monday. He would not budge, and the passive little creep would only communicate this to me thru one of his emissaries. The only tool in his shed is CBT, so your problems will not have solutions--you will only be invalidated to the extent that your problems are not really problems. They are just all in your head. I could go on but people like this are exactly what drive people who need it away from therapy.

I have been in psychiatric care for over 20 years, and I have had 3 concussions that he totally dismissed. He blocked me from seeing his psychiatrist when I needed medication management and the monkey-see monkey-do behavioral science (all he has to offer) could not possibly cut it for someone with no substance abuse issues or criminal record that just feels like garbage. He even told me that there was nothing wrong with me other than my lifestyle, which was followed by a demand to make a special trip to take some personality test via creepy answering machine message. Well my qEEG Neurofeeback collection says you are flat out mistaken. But I suppose that since I'm not socially retarded or a miscreant, it was beyond the limitations of this guy's ego and wisdom to admit that he was just out of his very small depth. Also, the shore-billy behind the counter could not figure out how to put me in the system for the psychiatrist the entire time that I was a patient, and she complained about it. He also expected me to make 2 round trips to Salisbury in the same day because he insisted on seeing me the only day that his psychiatrist was available for me. Well apparently this place flags profanity so I was unable to call him what he is.

I would recommend the personal Wellness Center now in the Deerpoint complex a much more holistic and modern day approach.

I found him very arrogant and self-centered. I was there to talk about me, not his successes. His time is valuable, yours is not. He will keep you waiting. Money or great insurance is a necessity! Staff had errors in scheduling and were not very friendly.

Dr. Finegan will respond to anything as long as you have money. Actually he is more a businessman than anything else. He may have had somewhat of a stellar reputation in the past but not anymore. There are those who can't be fooled. Unfortunately there is such a turn around in therapists and addictions staff that's been going on for many years it's not beneficial to someone looking for consistency and working with the same person over a period of time where trust is paramount. But you can see Dr. Finegan if you have the money and a lot of time as he will drag out the therapy process as long as possible not necessarily time focused on the client but time spent talking about himself all to make as much money as possible. I would not recommend this practice to anyone but they don't accept many insurances only the ones who pay well and don't serve those of a lesser status or of color.

Dr. Finegan responded to an urgent request to assist my son who had suffered a psychotic break. He responded immediately, facilitated his admission, and provided support until he was admitted to a long-care health care facility.

Dr. Finegan has been a fantastic resource in understanding my son's mental illness and I would recommend him to any of my family and friends!

Sincerely,

Tony Palm, Jr.
