Dr. Nigam is very knowledgeable & brings a lot of experience. He will listen to your concerns & will not overprescribe medication, unlike other doctors I had before, who throw a 7 different medications at you. He is prompt, and I trust his decisions with my psych care.

He will work with you in order to ensure you can maintain your emotional/mental health. I like his straight-forward approach & his staff is also very helpful. I don't understand the negative reviews. Perhaps he is not for the thin-skinned. but I'd rather a doctor be direct than incompetent. He is very competent, and knows what works & what does not.

Dr. Nigem treated my daughter when she was 14-15 years old. The first time he met her, he was very rude and condescending to her. His nurse practitioner had changed her medication and it was having a severe adverse effect on her and he would not listen. He would only blame her, that it was her behavior. He told me to hospitalize her. Even after her mobile therapist told him that her behavior changed for the worse after the Lamictal was started, he would not listen. When my daughter got upset, he threatened to have her arrested!! He is a horrible doctor - at least for children. His behavior was shocking. It took me a couple months to convince him to change her medication and her behavior changed. He is so egotistical that he would never accept that he was wrong and wouldn't apologize for the way he acted toward her. He shouldn't be around children at all.

Dr. Nigam acted very unprofessional, uncaring and unhelpful. He placed my son on a sample medication he had in the office which improved my son. Dr. never told me this was a new drug which may need prior insurance authorization. When I went to fill the prescription it was denied. I was told by the ins. co. that the way the Dr. put in my son's case was the issue. When the samples ran out my son's mood deteriorated. I asked Dr. to please give me more samples unitl the drug is approved. I also asked him to send a different diagnosis (code) to my insurance, since it was rejected. He REFUSED to give me any more samples (my son's state of mind was not well, since he went 2 wks w/ drug and then 4 days w/out.) I told him it was critical for his well-being. My son was having severe suicidal thoughts. He told me that he WOULD NOT HELP ME any more. He REFUSED again to give samples and REFUSED to treat my son again. He HUNG UP the phone on me. I will be reporting him to his prof. org.

Dr. Nigam, Family Psychological Services in Butler PA, Should be avoided at all costs. Dr. Nigam does not listen to the patient or in my case the parent of the patient. He also refused to read other diagnoses which were received at other facilities or hospitals. He prescribed medication which proved to be detrimental to my child's condition and would not change it even upon recommendation from a hospital specializing in such matters. We have been treated very poorly by this individual and the Family Psychological agency and we have filed numerous complaints with VBH and the county mental health associations. I have also contacted state agencies and federal agencies for help in this matter. An attorney has been contacted for additional help in this matter. My child has suffered many setbacks in his treatments due to the negligence of this doctor.
