Did a procedure that could not reach the problem area. Should have known that he could not see the cancerous node with the scope he used. Got a sample from an area that was not
cancerous. This could have killed me with a wrong diagnosis.

Dr Jim Bates has the rudest staff I have ever felt with ...I had surgery in Nov. have been in pain since ...called to see the Dr. Was told he was on vacation I should go to emergency ...5 hours later emergency Dr. Told me he tried to call Dr Bates 2 times but no answer I told him I was told he was on vacation ...after my release I was told to make a follow up with my Dr ... Dr Bates ...I left the hospital and drove across the street to his office ...went inside to make app. Explained I was in emergency and now I need to make a follow up with Dr Bates when he returns from vacation.....she looked at me like I was crazy and said he's not on vacation he's with a patient .....OMG this is the crazy lady that told me he was on vacation when I called that morning in such awful pain...have lost all respect for nurses and office workers

For those of us who've worked with him there is few to match him; he's been a successful surgeon for many years with minimal litigation. His partners who left? Fact is their capabilities were in their own minds, and weren't tuned to endovascular surgery. He's the kind of surgeon whom the surgeon goes to, that be a fact.

Dr. Bates performed a right carotid endarterectomy on my over a year ago and I've complained consistently about a painful choking I get in the right side of my neck and sometimes prevents me from breathing. He has laughed this off as "nothing" and "it happens to him all the time." Now, when I have complained about this treatment after a 2 hour plus wait in his office (happens all the time) he had his nurse call me and tell me not to come back to see him anymore. He has refused me further treatment and has refused to even look at the injury he caused me. His two partners recently left the firm and moved elsewhere. I don't know why but I can make some assumptions based on the reports I've received about him from other patients and even one other doctor. I don't recommend Dr. Jim D. Bates of Bullhead City and Kingman, AZ, for any of the type of surgery he practices (thoracic, cardiovascular and endovascular.)

This guy operated on my mother, and she died as a result of the surgery. Was never available post opererative, had to be called to ask what to do by nurses.
