I was very happy with Dr. Penrose as a doctor until I started trying to use her for things more complicated than something like a cold. She seemed unable to work with specialists she didn't know. Unfortunately, she rarely, if ever, checked my blood pressure. I had to find out I had high blood pressure myself by checking at CVS. In addition, the billing person is not very helpful which has made it extremely difficult to get help with insurance coverage. Once when my insurance company suggested something be recoded for payment it was coded the exact same way which was, of course, no help at all. Things like this seem to happen all the time. Poor follow though in general. When I've tried to get support from Dr. Penrose or her partner Dr. Carrington for billing problems they would quickly dismiss me and tell me to speak to their billing person, which, if they had taken one moment to talk to me, they would have found out was not helping. Front desk staff nice but not knowledgeable.

Dr. Penrose is extremely knowledgeable and takes time to listen. I've gone to specialists and have been dissatisfied, yet she has come up with the right diagnosis and treatment each time. She has also been available 100% for emergencies, fitting me in on a moments notice when I was ill. I have never been turned away by her or her partner, Dr. Carrington. Michele Harris

Very very small town doctor. Okay if you have a very simple flu or cold, but anything beyond that will garner you a prescription for antidepressants. As far as the office goes, this is not an organized medical practice. The part-time front desk gals are nice enough but seem more like volunteers.
