Setting a HIGH bar for medical professionals

My Dad was recently hospitalized with a serious condition. When I went to the hospital, one particular goal was to speak to the doctor to understand the diagnosis and see what the options were so I could explain and review with my elderly parents. To be transparent, while there are certainly good medical professionals out there, I have grown accustomed to getting minimal proactive information, little bedside manner and limited time with the doctors.

From the first interaction, Dr. Breaux was engaging, provided an explanation of my Dad’s condition in terms that we could all understand, spent time answering questions, made himself available if we thought of questions later or had needs, provided updates near real-time when they came in and did all this with focus, humor, respect and humility with each interaction.

I was completely impressed and each interaction built upon the last. Even after discharge, Dr Breaux followed up with my Dad and helped my parents with his transition home. I feel my Dad was in the absolute best care he could have been for his condition, was treated with respect and caring as a person.

It was so refreshing to see that there are medical doctors who still care about the patients as people, take time in a VERY busy day to make each patient feel they are the main focus, deliver information in a way that each individual can understand and treat the patient to show you are doing everything you can to help them improve. Dr. Breaux is setting a high bar that I hope all medical professionals work to achieve!

My appointment was a disappointment. There was no testing available, he did not know how to treat my "systemic" allergic reaction, seemed uninterested, and prescribed a "canned" protocol.

I have been treated by Dr Jack Breaux for just over 20 years. He is a great listener, very knowledgable and he explains everything very well (in terms his patients can understand). Never rushed, makes you feel very comfortable. He and his nursing staff truly desire to understand the cause of your condition, before determining how to best treat it, Dr. Breaux is definitely not your typical “let’s quickly treat the symptoms” kind of Doctor. I would highly recommend Dr. Jack Breaux and his staff; very compassionate professionals who are “determined to provide their patients with the most comprehensive care and diagnostic evaluations when it comes to their otolaryngology health. Dr Breaux is an awesome doctor. I had anxiety about my ears and he took time to make sure all my questions were answered and my fears resolved

Dr. Jack was recommended to me by 3 different people. I am so grateful to him for all of his help with my daughter. He has done a great job following her since the input of her tubes 10 months ago. I will be forever grateful for Dr. Jack giving my daughter her hearing back.

Dr. Breaux was a sigh of relief coming from my other doctor. He seemed to tune into exactly what was going on. What I had thought was my sinuses causing headaches, etc was actually muscle tention. He prescribed me a medicine that works well.

Dr. Breaux is an ENT - an Ear Nose & Throat Dr. - I find it hard to believe he would be diagnosing hypoglycemia OR high blood pressure. I have seen him and he has always been very polite. He listened to me and made recommendations for treatment. I am very happy with his service.

Professional and thorough examination. I got immediate relief and have followed his longterm suggestions successfully. No more caring and friendly a doctor have I ever met. He has now treated my wife and children.

He invented symptoms that I did not have and ignored the actual problems I did have. When I corrected him, he was suprised but did not change his diagnosis. He scheduled unnecessary and expensive tests. It seemed like he was trying to fit me to an assessment rather than find the real solution. He prescribed high blood pressure medication without measuring my blood pressure and in spite of my very healthy low blood pressure. He suggested that I have diabetes even though I am only moderately overweight and have never, ever been hyperglycemic or displayed any signs of diabetes. He was arrogant.
