I have been a patient of Dr. Stambuk for several years. He and his staff have always been very helpful to me and my wife, who is also a patient of his. They have always gone beyond the call of duty to assist us with whatever they can.

Dr. Stambuk has been my Neurologist for 12 years since I was diagnosed with Parkinson Disease. I have found him to be very knowledgeable and with PD. He has been very responsive in returning calls, meeting with family members, and up to date with Parkinson research. although he is not a "movement disorder specialist" I find him to be more in touch with the Parkinson world than some other neurologists who claim to have this disease as a specialty. Dr. Stambuk examines both my physical and cognitive PD issues and does not hand me off to a PA or other assistant. He has been an excellent neurologist with a keen interest and knowledge of my disease.

Dr. Stambuk isn't the problem. He is very brilliant, but his office staff won't relay my messages to him. His office assistants are condescending, rude, impatient, and don't seem to understand the meaning of urgent. I don't know if Dr. Stambuk is aware his staff screens calls and blocks messages from reaching him. I had a seizure the other night, called and spoke to someone at the front desk and told them that I needed to talk to him right away about the seizure, but he never called back. Any intelligent doctor would call back for a grand mal seizure but it seems like my messages have been blocked by his staff. I hope he reads this and fires somebody because this is bad medicine. He's a brilliant doctor, but his staff ruins his reputation for him.

Where to begin. I think Dr. Stambuk orders every possible test imaginable to rule out any and everything related to a possible mis-diagnosis. This is both good and bad. A very expensive test was ordered and not explained as to where it was being sent - told he was sending it to a Lab, my fault I didn't ask 'what lab' as it was out of network, thus costing me a very large out of network cost. This needs to be thoroughly explained IN ADVANCE to the patient. Each visit, a form is filled out listing current medications. What good does this do, when he say 'I want to start you on a medication called 'xxx', when HE already prescribed this medication and it was on my current med's list, really, READ and be familiar with your patient BEFORE you have contact with them. He refuses to review labs and other tests over the phone with you, 'he's running a business you know', you'll need to schedule an apoint. to come in and see me, OMG, I have a high co-pay and I was in less than 2 weeks ago.

Wonderful man and doctor. He really works WITH you as a patient and finds the right solution for YOU. Not your usual order a bunch of tests put you on a bunch of drugs cookie cutter routine. Really takes his time and is a very compassionate person. He even took time to give me some words of support and advice on making my decision for cancer treatment which he wasn't even treating me for.

I volunteer at the Alzheimer's Helpline desk. I found Dr. Stambuk very patient and thorough. When he would change subjects, he would tell my Mother-in-Law "I am not trying to confuse you - I'm just changing the subject. My 90 year old Mother-in-Law went to see Dr. Stambuk alone with her aid. The doctor explained in his notes that it would have been more beneficial if a family member attended. Our visit was longer than expected, as I provided Dr. Stambuk with a lot of history and examples. He is now listed on the Alzheimer's Neurologist list.

Even with planning weeks in advance, Dr. Stambuk's disorganized office misplaced my medical records. After they were finally found 20-30 minutes into my appointment, Dr. Stambuk was then unknowledgeable of how to fully read my medical records/MRI disc on his own computer. He suggested another MRI, which again produced no results and another bill. Extremely frustrating...Patients should expect more from medical professionals, especially in a field of specialization such as neurology. Experience was a regrettable waste of time and money. Find another Neurologist, not Dr. Mik Stambuk.

He lacks bedside manner. Something is very wrong with his EMG techiniques (I have had 3). HIs settings or method was nothing short of holding on to a high voltage electric fence. My whole body shook and I was in pain for days...He was in a hurry and let me know he was going past his close time to do me this favor.. Thanks :)
