I saw two physicians that told me I needed shoulder replacement surgery. I was determined to find an alternative procedure. Dr. Kovack offered resurfacing as compared to replacement. I could not be happier with the outcome. In 3 and 1/2 months after the surgery I have total mobility. The physical therapist was totally amazed with my recovery and wanted information about Dr. Kovack. I totally recommend him.

What a great experience I had with Dr Kovack and his staff! I had my 3rd rotator cuff surgery within 9 months this past July 12. My previous 2 surgeries were with another physician. Dr Kovacks's expertise, patience and staff excellence encouraged me through the entire process from presurgery to completion of physical therapy. I'm a licensed massage therapist. With Dr Kovacks recommendation, I've been back to work for over one month now. I'm five months out from surgery and continue to do my daily exercises knowing that the healing is continuing. Thanks Dr Kovack!!! Ken

Currently 8 Weeks post Total Knee Replacement surgery by Dr. Kovack and I must tell you that he is an amazing physician and surgeon. My knee was seriously deformed (knee valgas - bow legged) by more that 20 degrees before surgery. I had considered going to another doctor for a "second opinion" on my knee and glad that was with Dr. Kovack. He addressed my problem head on, told me my knee was "deformed which was something that my prior Orthopedic doctor did not even acknowledge (for decades.) I am 67 years old and today, I am totally pain free, hardly any swelling and have already played 4 rounds of golf within the last 2 weeks. My knee has not felt this good in decades. If you have knee issues, I would strongly encourage you to at least consider a consultation with Dr. Kovack. He and his staff are the best!

At 42, I had worn out my shoulder with military/lifting/vigorous activity. Docs in my area told me my only option was a total replacement. I traveled from North Dakota for a arthrosurface/hemicap surgery on my right shoulder. During the consult, Dr. Kovack answered all my questions about alternatives and made us feel like he had all day for us. He did surgery the next day, found a mess, fixed the shoulder and reattached a torn bicep to boot. He gave my wife and I his number and said to call if we needed anything. After the final checkup, he made sure I had his email address and said to email him if I had any questions/issues in the future. I was blown away. My right shoulder now has more mobility than my non surgery shoulder and feels great. Dr. Kovack is a great example of why you should research your options and not be afraid to make a little trip for cutting edge health care.

I had an emergency room referral for a broken hand over a holiday weekend and Dr. Kovac's staff was able to get me in the following day after I called for an appt. (was told by E.R. doctor that needed to be seen by orthopedic specialist within 1 week) which I thought was very reasonable. I was very impressed with Dr. Kovac's knowledge of the situation and assurance that we were choosing the best treatment option. I had no problem with him, his staff nor anyone else at the Hilliard office location. No concerns referring family or friends to him!

Was in car accident which ended up tearing my rotator cuff, and my bicep. Dr Kovack recommended surgery as Im a younger guy, and it was a full thickness tear thruout the majority of my rotator cuff. I was worried I would wake up, and since my my tear was deemed significant, that my arthoscopic procedure would turn into an open repair. That was not the case, and only 2 months after surgery, I had nearly full flexibility back in my shoulder. I cannot say enough good things about Dr Kovack, and how much better i feel after the surgery. From researching google, and healthgrades, he has nearly 43 reviews, and close to a 5 star rating.

After agreeing to perform surgery, never saw Dr again till hospital. Staff gave me inaccurate information, especially as it concerned PT. Had several problems post surgery with poor follow up. When brace slipped told to go to ER, then knee issues at PT, clinical staff said no Dr on call go to ER. Then took 2 weeks to get appointment. Kovack said problem was arthritis and I should see a Rheumatologist or my Family Dr. I went to Kovack based on his presentation at a Ohio Health pain mgmt. seminar where he stressed understanding complete patient. In reality he would only look at knees and had interest in PT or other related issues.

I did not have as good of an experience as I would have hoped for a first time visit. I saw three different people: either students, interns or other doctors, but only saw Dr. Kovack for a few minutes. I wish he would have been more informative on options and side effects. My family physician referred me for two different problems but after my appointment was set, I was told Dr. Kovack would only see me for one issue and I would have to set another appointment. I left with lots of unanswered questions. After my followup appointment was cancelled for his vacation, I tried one more time to set an appointment and guess what... Vacation again. I did, however, feel better after he treated me the first time. Not all bad, but not all good either.

Biography

I am a fellowship trained Orthopedic surgeon specialized in shoulder, elbow and knee surgery. I perform the typical shoulder, elbow and knee surgeries such as conventional total joint and reverse shoulder replacement, elbow replacement, arthroscopy with rotator cuff repairs and labral repair, ligament reconstruction and fracture repair. I have been performing new advanced procedures on younger patients with end stage glenohumeral arthritis. These procedures include the arthroscopic biologic total shoulder resurfacing with fresh osteochondral allograft and total shoulder resurfacing with Arthrosurface. I have seen very impressive early results. I also perform other procedures arthroscopically that many surgeons still perform open such as massive rotator cuff tears, bone and tendon transfers, fracture fixation and so on.
