I saw Dr. Hodges in the emergency room at Decatur General. After running one blood test, he sent me home with a prescription for pain medicine, despite my papers listing my pain as 0/10. He never spoke to me about what could be causing my symptoms; he just left the room and never came back. A nurse brought in the prescription and told me I was free to go. Somehow this "service" amounted to $768 in physician's fees alone. Evidently this is all standard practice, as I was told repeatedly after the fact "Emergency care is expensive". What care?
