My experience with Dr VanPelt was excellent. He listened to me, explained my procedure and my consultation relieved my anxiety about having surgery.

He was professional and performed the most needed relief of nerve pain in my lower back. I highly recommend him for spinal surgery. I am now pain free and recovered in a matter of days.

Stop waiting and worrying! Having my L5S1 fusion was the best thing I did. Vanpelt is amazing to say the least. My nerve pain, numbness and buttock pain is all gone. I went home the next day, determination is key. Here I sit three weeks out still amazed with my results. Get up walk and listen to the doctors orders and you'll do great. The dumbest thing I ever did was wait so long to have the fusion. POA is an awesome group and will use them again if needed.

I went to Dr Van Pelt with debilitating nerve pain in my butt and legs making it difficult to do anything. We decided to go ahead with the Lumbar Laminectomy which was completed about 2.5 weeks ago. I'm glad to report the nerve pain is 100% gone! I still have some pain (less every day) from the surgery but for me I would say it's been 100% successful. The only downside to report is I had to wait a few months to get scheduled. That could reflect the demand for a doctor with a good track record.

My surgery for spinal stenosis proceeded smoothly and without incident. I stood up and walked without any external aids the afternoon of the operation. I continued to do so for the next two days. My ability to walk without a back brace or walker is due to my core strength prior to the operation.
I began exercising 5 1/2 weeks after my surgery at the local YMCA. Upper body exercises involved low to moderate weight and high (up to fifty) repetitions. Exercises targeting the lower back involved just making the motion without any weight.
It is now one year since my operation. I go through five sets of ten repititions on the leg press, beginning with 135# and increasing each set by 90#, ending at 405#. I am now bench pressing 135#.
I expect to be bench pressing 200# and leg pressing 800# six months from now. That is what I did prior to developing spinal stenosis.
I highly recommend Dr. VAnPelt.
