The best thing about Dr. Musgrove is that he is accepting new patients, something that is very rare among Austin mental health professionals.

I found my first visit to be fairly in-depth, meeting with both a PA and the doctor. After that, I've only met with the PA but that could be because my condition has stabilized and I don't need the level of care provided by an MD.

Practice is overgrown. Care is delegated to understaff with poor training. Office staff communication is poor.

My frustration is with Dr. Musgrove staff unwillingness to assist. They do not return calls and they lack knowledge of Insurance issues. When dealing with insurance with my other dr's there is assign personal I can talk to directly eliminating miscommunication. My new Health Insurance uses the same Mental Health provider has my last insurance and I'm cover me with Dr. Musgrove starting 2018, yet their staff states they don't and refuse to assist to set up insurance through my new Insurance.

This doc spent a lot of time speaking with the patient and is very knowledgeable about medication choices (risk vs. benefit). Great staff response to questions after the appointment. I would recommend him highly!

He requires his patients to see a Psychologist (in addition to visits with him) for ADHD/AD symptoms - I suspect he gets kickbacks for this. Instead of prescribing the appropriate medications to treat disorder(s), he's overly hesitant/cautious about prescribing the appropriate medications.

Almost a year ago I scheduled an appointment with Dr Musgrove. I was unable to keep the appointment and less than an hour from scheduling I attempted to cancel but only got an answering machine, which I did leave a message on. That night I ended up in the ER with what was thought to be a heart attack... luckily I only needed to have my Gallbladder removed. However, today I attempted to schedule an appointment again due to personal issues. I was told I am not eligible to be seen because I missed my appointment previously. No one from the office called me on the day of my appointment so they knew I had cancelled... But, I missed an appointment. As a mental health clinic the staff should not be so rude as they are dealing with possibly unstable individuals. The uncaring, rude lady that I spoke with should be fired. I guess I should be glad I can not get in with this BS doctor. As it appears they are not caring of individuals only their pocketbook.
