After seeing a Orthopedic specialist, and a second Doctor and four steroid shots later, I made a appointment with Dr Doorley, who saw me quickly, set me up for some test, and operated on my spine in a very quick time. Prior to the surgery I could barley walk due to the pain. When I awoke from the surgery I walked out of the hospital pain free. My experience with Dr Doorly was he explained everything that the test showed and what procedure he would perform.I was 100% happy with the care I received from him, his staff, and the Salem Hospital where I was operated on.

I am finally pain free. Thank you Dr Doorly. A very carefully planned and discussed procedure.

Dr. Doorly reviewed his interpretation of my MRI in detail with me. He identified the problem area in my spine and showed me the image of the compression of the spinal chord. He described the surgery that he could perform and clearly spelled out the risks as well as the potential benefits of the surgical procedure that he would use. My outcome exceeded my expectations and I am improving daily. I strongly recommend Dr. Doorly for his knowledge, skill, and personal interaction with patients.

Terrible doctor and insensitive staff. The sitting area has back breaking chairs- kind of ironic at a back surgeons office. Also the appointments are so poorly scheduled that one is expected to wait hours in these terrible chairs. Cancelled appts are also a problem and discourteous staff. When i finally lost my patience after plenty of bad treatment-- i got a letter from doorlys office saying i was abusive and would no longer be seen- this absurd claim of abuse was also put in my medical file which was uncalled for and cruel-- stay away from this jerk of a doctor who is in it for the money-

I once had the pleasure of dealing with Dr. Doorly in 2014 for cervical fusion . with many chronic back issues since 1993 I recently was told by Dr. Doorly that I needed muti-level back surgery. I was told this in Sept.2016 3 months after the Mri. I too, got the run around from this practice and no suggestions as to who at MGH should have me see. Final word with MGH They don't want to clean up anyone elses mess. FYI Dr. Metlock was my surgeon for my back in 2009. I now need surgery in the exact areas I had done before, both with the back and the neck fusion done by this office 2 years prior. Good Luck to everyone who chooses this office.

I would NOT recommend this doctor to anyone!!! He was my impartial in a workmen's compensation case- I waited three months for his report. Impartial? Not even close. I read the report an was appalled at all the contradictions , not to mention sentences that we straight up lies. What a disgrace when a doctor is given power to write untruths. There is something seriously wrong and fishy when you wait three months for what seems like someone got paid off to write what they wanted them to write! My mistake for thinking that taking an oath in today's society means anything... He even went as far to tie one disease into a totally separate condition together. Meanwhile, I am still searching for a doctor who cares enough and has the knowledge and ethics to help a patient.

I saw Dr Doorly first about a year ago because a MRI which showed spinal stenosis and a herniated disc. At that time I did not have any pain but gradually lost feeling in both legs and was unable to walk more that 10 feet without a walker. Dr Doorly recommended surgery to correct the problem and his office arranged everything fairly quickley. I received great information about the procedure, what were reasonable expectations and what could be possible complications.
I was also warned that I could possibly feel worse initially but that this was for a limited period.
Surgery went well and I had feeling in both legs almost immediately. I managed to walk the length of the hospital floor before leaving. After discharge I had some of the problems I had been warned about but his staff kept in touch with me and worked with me until I was fully functional
and pain free. I never felt that my problems were ignored or taken lightly.

OMG!!! I had an appointment with Dr. Doorly on August 1st, 2014. He looked at the MRI and stated that I need surgery but he had questions with regards to the radiologist's findings stating that I had more damage than what was stated by her. I saw him emailed this person and that he was going to have a meeting with her with regards to mine and another patient's findings that he was not happy with. Dr. Doorly stated I was to call back the Surgical Scheduler the following week, which I did. And I did, again. again and again..Now this is towards the end of September in terrible pain and discomfort and still no call backs nothing..I have never been so insulted in my life. My hands are tied..why cause I'm still in pain and discomfort and still NO CALL BACK!! All you get is LIP SERVICE watch by the way is excellent!

Very surprised about the ratings below. I was seen by Dr. Doorly in a timely manner after receiving the runaround with my primary doctor for over 3 weeks. I am 38 years old and could not walk due to some back problem. My primary dr only prescribed heavy doses of fentanyl patches, oxy and dilaudid and I was still in such pain requiring a wheelchair. I could not walk or lay down. I could not physically lay down for an MRI so that was their solution. Medication. Upon entering Dr. Doorly's office, the staff and the doctor were so accomodating, I had a successful MRI within 48 hours of arriving to the office. Diagnosed and surgery within another 3 days. I was immediately able to walk and have received nothing but kind, attentive and considerate care from this entire office. Highly recommend this office and know of others who have had their backs operated on by Dr. Doorly with success.

Dr. Doorly treated my husband, and according to him, and two other doctors we later saw, his surgery was successful. So these comments are not about that. Unfortunately, my husband still experiences very severe pain. Because of this, we have continued to try and see him (two years since surgery). It took forever to get an appointment, and when we finally did, he looked at the MRI and said, "This is boring", both in a casual and unprofessional way. Perhaps to him, in marveling at his great work and doing his job, it was, but to my husband and I, it was very offensive and insensitive. Our dealings with his office have gone on for over two years, shifting us from one person to another, and finally after a last MRI, which we had to ask for him to look at, we received a very odd letter from his office. This was the final blow. Again, insensitive, and lacking personal concern. For this reason, I would tell anyone thinking of going to see him, to find another neurosurgeon.
