Dr. Blenker has always been quick to solve any issues for our entire family! When a frame was broken, she replaced it at no charge. Lenses got scratched and she replaced them. She has always been understanding, kind and knowlegeable. She stands behind all services!! It seems that the comments below are the same person who keeps trying to tarnish her image. Of course, they are using a site where it's anonymous. Beware of this site and its anonymous comments! She's great!

Like others here, I had repeated issues with glasses Dr. Blenker made for me. She kept telling me I had to "get used to them". However, when I became very frustrated and went to see an opthalmologist at the University of Wisconsin Clinic, he confirmed that Dr. Blenker had given me the wrong prescription. And she refuses to refund my money or remake the glasses. Beware.

I have been seeing Dr Blenker for 2 years now, and what a relief! I have trouble trusting medical professionals because of past experiences, so going to appointments can be a bit stressful. Dr Blenker treated me with kindness and patience. For example, her assistant needed to test the pressure in my eye--in order to do this, she needed to put an instrument very close to my eye. I was terrified--I mean, who likes things stuck in their eye?? (I realize my fear is irrational!) Anyway, I refused. When Dr Blenker came in, she was very patient with me about this. She explained, in detail, the process and reasoning behind the test. She gave me time to let the reasoning set in, and after I agreed, she preformed the test with gentleness and quickness. After this visit, I was totally at ease. I got contacts and a good pair of glasses. Later, I went back for a custom order, and it was handled with care and done very quickly. I love my glasses!

I trust Dr Blenker, and I tell everyone looking for eye care to go to Blenker Family Eye Care. Dr Blenker is kind and knowledgable. She takes the time to make sure her patients are getting everything they need, and I feel special every time I'm in her office.

I LOVE going to Blenker Family Eye care. I've gone to a few different eye doctors in the Madison area and have been blown away with my experience at this clinic. Dr. J. Blenker is so caring and attentive. She treats each patient with excellent personal care. A lot of other places your just another number on the books, but here at B.F.EC. you're sure to get the personal attention one deserves. I'm one that typically has a lot of questions about what's going on with my eyes or what are different things I can do to improve my eye health and my questions are always answered in an extremely respectful and knowledgeable manner. Every time a friend asks for a recommendation for eye care, I am quick on the draw to recommend Blenker Family eye care.

Dr. Blenker is a marvelous, thorough doctor! I have been seeing her for 5 years! She is compassionate and cares about giving the best patient care. She spends more time with you in her exam than any other optometrist I ever had. She acuatually gets to know you!!!! I've referred many friends and family to her and they all thank me for doing so. My family and I have trust her with our eyecare and we will continue to do so. She is the best! She is great at her job!

Dr. Blenker was extremely rude to my wife who went in for an eye exam this week. After completing the eye exam and paying the copay for the visit (the rest covered through our vision insurance), my wife asked for a hard copy of her new prescription as we were still debating between using our insurance allowance for glasses vs contacts, and we were considering ordering her contacts online through a website. Dr. Blenker snapped back: "I'm not going to be providing that" because "we have to make a living around here" and "people like you never call us back" (she was apparently upset that we not immediately ordering the contacts through her office). The whole situation was very uncomfortable for my wife and we will not be returning to Dr. Blenker's office in the future. Of course, your mileage may vary...but beware...

I'd advise caution with this practitioner. Though she is pleasant, I question her skill with complicated prescriptions. I went to her for the first time last fall and after three months of trying, she was unable to fit me with contact lenses. I've worn contacts before. After trying four pairs, which was a huge waste of time, we gave up. Even worse, I suspected my glasses were giving me low-grade headaches and making me feel slightly off balance. I've worn progressives before and haven't had problems. When I brought this to her attention, I was treated as if I might be imagining the problem. I've never been a fan of medical professionals who treat patients as if they don't know what they're talking about. I just went to see another optometrist today and was told that something is indeed wrong with my glasses and the prescription Dr. Blenker wrote is slightly off, which would cause continual eye strain. I've wasted hundreds of dollars and will need to get new lenses. Be careful!

I have been to Dr. Blenker twice for general eye exams. She is very nice, knowledgeable, and interesting. I am impressed by her thoroughness and efficiency. She gets to work right away, puts you through a battery of tests, and then she talks honestly to you about them. I have had three sons go to her for general eye exams also, upon my recommendation. They all thought the same thing: that she is serious about her work and about our eye health. An excellent professional -I feel fortunate to have met her.
