I saw Dr. Tonkovic for a heart murmur. It's apparently a pretty benign murmur, but I the automated emailed cryptic diagnosis that I got didn't say that. I scheduled a follow-up in which the doctor said he welcomed questions. And then he turned into a sneering, egotistical bully who accused me of being a complete slob. Apparently he never bothered to look at my chart--he would have learned that I'm doing a solid 10 hours of aerobic exercise per week and yet I'm short of breath and haven't lost an ounce. I got the impression he thought anyone who didn't have a perfect BMI or was a walking talking heart attack was a complete waste of his time. There are more constructive ways to talk to a patient about weight, such as "Let's figure out something to help you make this work better" or "let's refer you to an endocrinologist." Instead, I was told "you know why you have shortness of breath. It's because you don't exercise and this is what you get for that."

No follow up. I got an email saying my blood test results were normal. When I requested the hard copy, my thyroid function was abnormal, a problem since I have Grave's Disease. I got an email that my stress test and echo were normal, but no copy of the test. I had to call for an interpretation. No instruction on my blood pressure medicine. Do I need it? Is the dose right? Had to call and ask. Ditch the technology and talk to your patients in person.
