Only now that he has died can i even publicly speak about the trauma and disrespect i experienced at his hands. I once waited 5 hrs i his office. During the exam when i was 8 months pregnant, he claimed i needed to come back and get a procedure BEFORE my baby was born, to remove part of my cervix because of HPV. I declined(en he kept pushing for the procedure over and over again) and ended up having an early baby so once again i ended up in his care. He barely said anything to me, broke my water without asking, started to stitch me up with no anesthetic, and then stitched my tear wrong and i have a permanent tear that wasnt repaired and i dont want to get fixed.

Come to find out later in life(when im HPV negative also) that i only get nabothian cysts on my cervix and there is no reason to remove them, especially in an 8 month pregnant person.

work in the medical field, and know the good vs. amazing doctor and hes one of the amazing. I love his work. He is a prestigious doctor appositely fa-nominal. He saved me and my babies life. Every other doctor I went to in my state said my baby wouldn't make it and they couldn't do any thing. I am so blessed that I heard about him. It was worth the 4 hour drive to see him. I cant thank him enough.

While Dr. George Buchanan is a great Doctor, his office staff is RUDE, INCOMPETENT, DISHONEST, and as far from LOVING as possible. One woman cut me off and became very rude and indignant while trying to explain the special instructions I had received to expedite getting some medical records released to them in a timely manner. She kept interrupting me and telling me she knew how to do her job.

Then, their office manager had the nerve to call me back and lecture ME on being rude to HER staff, which I was NOT! She also told me she was doing me a FAVOR by even giving me an appointment with the doctor because he was not accepting any complex cases. Doing me a favor, or wasting my time??? Then, the office manager flat out lied to me and promised she would call me back if they could not get the records and that I did not need to call them back. I explained that I was on medications and could not drive but that I had someone who could drive me the next 2 days.
.
The morning before my appointment, I had not heard from them, so I called to check just so I did not waste a trip. The first person I spoke to said nothing had been received or faxed and that she would fax a request. She also said she would leave a message for the office manager to call me. Noone called me back before lunch and when I tried to call back, they had no answering service, not even voice mail or an answering machine.

I called the medical records office and they confirmed what I suspected, they had received no requests for medical records for me since 2012. I called back at 1:05, that was an hour and 5 minutes of "lunch break" and the disgruntled office manager answered the phone and was very rude to me and kept interrupting me to tell me that I was calling her on her lunch and interrupting her lunch and she only answered the phone because it kept ringing and she thought it was the Doctor. I asked her if she remembered telling me she would call me if they could not get my records so that I could go get them instead and she replied "whatever, you didn't give me time." Had they faxed the request as instructed on Thursday, the records would have been faxed back that same day. She then said she was going to lunch and I could come in to my appointment if I wanted. Since there was no point without my records, I canceled.

Why didn't I just go get my own records? Because I have been sick and dealing with other illnesses and relied on their ability to do something they told me over and over that "they do every day."

In the past, I have waited for over 6 hours and tolerated outdated and unclean facilities because of Dr. Buchanan's great reputation and his skill at handling my terrifying emergency C-section. But sadly, I'll be finding a new doctor where the staff know how to treat a patient. Especially a patient in crisis.

Dr. Buchanan is an awesome doctor if you're have female issues he is the dr. to see he delivered 4 of my children safely I completely trust him . I moved out of town but I came back for him to perform my surgery. He's very accurate when it comes to diagnosis. Yes you must wait a little longer than usual but he's worth the wait. He provides quality care. I would recommend him over any obgyn. Once I had lost my healthcare & no other insurances would accept my pregnancy because it was considered a préexisting condition so I had to resort to Medicaid he continued to treat me with quality care and made sure I was treated well in the hospital regardless of my insurance.

Upon arriving at his clinic, I noticed they burn incense in the office. Really? Being almost 9 months pregnant, I was very uncomfortable and found it difficult to breath. The office is very outdated. It was cool in the lobby and warm in the exam room and his office. Definitely expect to wait. I was called ahead of time and told he could see me sooner if I got there in the next 30 minutes. I arrived within this time frame and still didn't end up seeing him until my original appointment time (an hour and a half later). While he seems extremely knowledgeable, I was not overly impressed with his bedside manner or the way that he treated his staff. I would definitely not recommend him, and only went there because I had no choice at the time.

Dr. Buchanan is a great docter but I really wish he could be more considerate of others time. Waiting 2 hours or more past a set appointment time is crazy. Now, to be fair I trust him completely with my body and have never had a problem regarding his care. The only downer is the time situation.
