This was THE MOST unprofessional, disgraceful treatment of a doctors office that I have ever received. I am new to the Austin area and was referred to Dr Hummer around 6-9 months ago. It was a 4month wait but I decided to wait it out, thinking he must be busy because he is a good at what he does. I received a call from the office about a week before my appt to cancel bc the doctor had a personal trip. It clearly it wasn't an emergency bc the call was 2 weeks before the appointment) . There was no apology or compassion on the other end. I thought that due to the fact that I had waited for so long and it was being cancelled for personal reasons, that they would work something out to work me in sometime in the next couple of weeks. Not the case at all. I was rescheduled just as if I had called for the first time that day. I wait another three to four months. I decided to be patient in order to see Dr Hummer. The date they had available for me was a date that I was expected to be on a trip for work. I lost the travel fare. I eventually found someone to send in my place so that I did not disappoint ta client in the same manner that I was treated. But I did disappoint my team in order to take care of myself and see Dr Hummer. . I Received a call TODAY ( THE day of the appointment to cancel). The reason was that the doctor isn't taking anymore clients with my "official" diagnosis/presenting problem. I don't want a diagnosis from him to help me with medication. I don't even want medication from him. All I want is to understand some abnormal and all-consuming symptoms I am suffering from get . As well as to understand it better and find a natural alternative to the present treatment of these baffling symptoms of my diagnosis and treatment.
Again, I received no apology or understanding of my issues. Trey were rude, defensive and so unattractive to me on the phone that I would never see or recommend anyone ever to this practice. The two women I spoke with actually made an excuse abou some paper work and claimed to remember ( 8 months ago!!:)lol) speaking to me specifically asking me to send them some information. I asked her to tell me anything else about our call, what unique issue I am having and why I want to see the doctor. She couldn't answer the question. I spoke with her about it for ten minutes and she didn't remember it. But she remembered specifically asking me about paperwork. I doubt it. And even if that were the case, then she needs to get her priorities straight in terms of what to remember about a client who is explaining her experience of very real fear and suffering !
I NEVER leave feed back on these sites but I feel a responsibility to anyone seeking neurological attention, to caution you from making an appointment here. The unfortunate thing is that I never even got to see Dr Hummer. He might be a kind person, but to try and see him is not worth the hassle, the disruption, the aggressive staff and the unprofessionalism. There are WAY TOO MANY gracious compassionate practices in the city to even bother with this one.
