As a skilled doctor, and a nice guy, I think highly of Dr. McKenzie. But I have an issue with a prior ear surgery and need to be seen. The scheduling person would not budge from 2 1/2 months out. He did not care that I had a problem. I will have to see someone else.

The Dr and staff were very uncaring, showed no interested in helping me and offer only information to go some place else.

Suffered for two years with chronic ear/head/jaw/neck pain, saw numerous doctors and had all sorts of procedures. Finally started looking through the yellow pages for ENT's, made appointments with four, three were of no use and one even went so far as to say " I had a vivid imagination." Dr McKenzie took the time to really listen and after several visits discovered my problem, explained it in terms I and my husband could understand. Yes his practice is very busy and appointments may be 3-5 weeks out, but he and the entire ENT group such as Drs. Lee, Rubenstein, Doyle and the rest are worth the wait. I travel approximately 60 miles (one way) to see him and would go further if necessary. He is a caring, forthright doctor who goes the extra mile.

I called 12/26/12 to set up an appointment for my newborn's posterior tongue tie. Jackie answered the phone and was very unhelpful. She didn't pause to ask the doctor if he could squeeze in a newborn or even try to convey empathy. She said the earliest she could get my 12 day old daughter in was at the end of the month! She also gave me a poor recommendation to see my primary care physician. My Lactation consultant recommends Dr. Jaju, a pediatric dentist, in ashburn. i called them and the staff that answers the phone actually congratulated me, fit me in this week even though doctor was 'booked' and actually had some Christmas Spirit left in them to not turn away an infant that needs a simple procedure to breastfeed!

All my life I've gotten reoccurring tumors in one of my ears. Like clockwork, every three years my old Dr would operate twice; once to remove the tumor, the second time to repair my hearing (which was a lost cause). Inevitably the tumor would return and the work done to restore my hearing would be destroyed. When I moved to NoVA and switched to Dr. McKenzie, his first thought was to remove the tumor (I had another one at that point) and try to prevent them from returning, as opposed to the rinse/repeat my old Dr. did. That was 12 years ago and I've been tumor-free ever since. I see Dr. McKenzie once or twice a year to get the ear cleaned out and checked and haven't had any problems.

My daughter has had multiple ear surgeries from other doctors. Dr. McKenzie took his time to thoroughly review her history and CAT scans. He performed her last surgery and we have been very pleased with the results and his follow up. She has an extremely difficult case and he is determined to find a solution to her problem. We have seen about 10 ENT's for this issue and he is definitely the most competent (this includes several doctors at Johns Hopkins). The only down side is because Dr. McKenzie is so good it is difficult to schedule an appointment with him.
