I had an appt with Redfield a while ago ( "Dr." is omitted because I doubt the fact that he is a real doctor). I had spine surgery caused by an infection. My surgeon referred me to him or anyone in that dept to check to see if I still had the infection and to prescribe other antibiotics for me. He was notified a month before my appt. and had sufficient time to prepare. When I arrived he acted like he had no idea why I was there, and began by asking me a "barrage" of questions that were highly generic, which had nothing to do with my recent spine surgery. He specified that I "ONLY" answer in "one-word" or "yes" or "no" answers. He "berated" me, as a 3rd Grade Teacher would scold a child if I had to give more that a "one-word" answer, which most people would have to in describing a medical issue. He was angered, quite annoying, and seemed to take pleasure in upsetting me. After I told him that an "infection" caused my spinal surgery it seemed like "new news" to him, even though he had received a call from my surgeon and his staff previously. He asked me 3 times if it was the infection that caused my spinal problem. His memory retention seemed not to last longer than 2 minutes. During entire appt we hardly discussed my spinal surgery being caused by an infection (thus that's WHY I was there). At the end of my appt I took a folderI had brought with me. I took out 3 very recent LabCorp Blood Lab Tests my Spine Surgeon ordered for me. I was handing them to Redfield and I said "These are the most recent Blood lab results and they may help you with a diagnosis. He then refused to take them and look at them, and would N O T ALLOW me to leave them there so he could view them later !!! As far as I know, I believe that "Blood Labs" are an extremely valuable and widely used source of information for Infectious Disease doctors to read and research that they RELY ON. ***And here I am , a 72 yr old patient who just recently had spine surgery that was caused by an infectious abscess and I just drove 30 miles to La Jolla through "rush-hour" traffic, with my lower back in pain, and a ( so-called) Infectious Disease doctor at a Scripps Hospital * REFUSES * to even look at these Blood Labs I brought with me. (and possibly discuss w/patient) the results concerning the cause and prevention of the "infection" that caused him NOT to be able to walk and receiving serious spine surgery soon after. " UNBELIEVABLE" !!!!! My "Blood Lab Results" were eight inches from his hands and he REFUSED to even LOOK at them !!! * I then asked him if he would contact my surgeon and request all of his information on my surgery and the abscess I formerly received I.V. antibiotic treatment. He said he would do that now and contact me soon. ** 40 - Days Went BY and I had an appt with my Spine Surgeon in Oceanside and I asked him if Redfield @Scripps had contacted him. He said "NO". So my surgeon's staff contacted Redfield and asked if they like them to send MY files, info, MRI's etc to his office. And Redfield (or his staff) said "YES. ** AND Included in all that INFO that was forwarded to Redfield were the THREE BLOOD LAB results that I was handing to him in his exam room at Scripps in La Jolla ==> 40 DAYS PREVIOUSLY !!!! Does SCRIPPS really employ people like THIS who interact with patients with such unprofessional, unethical, and unprincipled ways as to anger patients and question whether they should ever get treated by a Scripps doctor again. ** If you need a Scripps Infectious Disease doctor avoid, by ANY and ALL means necessary...... the one called " REDFIELD" !!! * Someone earlier referred to Redfield as " Arrogant ". That could be the "Understatement" of the Century !!! ( Is he really a doctor ?? ) Why does Scripps Management still allow him to continue to practice medicine ?
