I had a left total knee replacement in June of 2021 that was exceptionally good with very little pain after. Planning on having my right knee done very soon with Dr Remia and his team. I highly recommend him.

My issue with Dr. Remia is the Vision Scope that he performed a week before an arthroscopy. This is a procedure that was described as "stick on a bandaid and go back to work". When the lidocaine wore off, I could barely make it to the car and the pain increased to the point of needing to take a strong pain pill when I got home. I rarely take pain pills for anything. The following morning when his office called to check on me, I reported severe pain and swelling in a knee that would not bear any weight. They advised ice and elevation and said they'd only heard of one other patient having problems with a Vision Scope, but would report the reaction to Dr. Remia. A week later, still in pain, I reported in for the arthroscopy and verified with him that he was aware of the adverse symptoms. He told me I would feel so much better after the arthroscopy. Two weeks later, I was still on crutches and starting PT, which did not go well. At 6 weeks, the PT did an evaluation to send to the doctor's office for my post-surgery checkup. When Dr. Remia came in to the examining room, he asked how my knee was doing. I asked him if he had read the PT eval and he said no and asked me what it said. I told him it hadn't been offered to me to read, but that I was not making good progress and still had the same pain in the side of my knee from the Vision Scope. He denied that this was likely, and without doing an examination said he was scheduling me for 3 Hyalgan injections because if it wasn't better by now, it wasn't going to get any better. The whole visit took less than 5 minutes. I chose his PA, Karen to give the injections after having a good experience with her at my initial examination. At the first visit for the shot, I repeated the information about the pain in the side of my knee and insisted that she address it. An exam that only took about 1 minute of her time revealed tendonitis of the IT band, which she said the shots would not help. She immediately changed the diagnosis on the PT orders, which had been aggravating the ITBS the whole time. Had Dr. Remia been more concerned about his patient's welfare than his reputation, he could have saved me weeks of discomfort and frustration in PT. I have since, coincidentally heard from 3 other patients of his who had the same, painful reaction to the Vision Scope that I did, leaving me to conclude that this was not just a bit of bad luck.

My elderly dad had to have a second hip replacement two years after this surgeon replaced his broken hip. we found him to be dismissive, egotistical, and uncaring, not to mention incorrect in his diagnosis. Terrible experience with long-term bad repercussions. Never again.

Dr Remia did a great job. I had almost no pain and recovered very well. Who are these smart-alecky people who say such dumb things? He is a five-plus, as the nurse says, below.

I am a registered nurse and had the opportunity to be treated by Dr. Remia - after doing my homework I discovered he was a most gifted surgeon and a great asset to this community. Perhaps chatting is not his strong suite but that is not what I am interested in--- knowledge, expertise, experience and talent is what I demand. In my mind that is where it's at - he has all those attributes- he repaired my knee -- I was back to work in 2 days with minute pain - pain had been so severe that I could no longer walk up a stair -he injected my L hip as I had bursitis and was unable to sleep or turn over. I unequivically recommend Dr. Remia he is a 5 plus

Dr. Remia was referred to me by an orthopedic surgeon who knew him well and regarded him as a very highly skilled surgeon. Initially he didn't have a good 'patient' manner - very direct & clinical. I needed his superior surgical skills and would get the 'warm & fuzzy' from my family Dr. His demeanor is typical of many surgeons - very focused on the surgery - not on the social interaction and reassurance desired by the patient. Personality doesn't indicate a bad doctor. July 2012, Dr. Remia did a total knee replacement on my badly disfigured and painful outwardly collapsed knee. Within 2 weeks I had 140 degree range of motion and was up and down stairs using alternating legs. I experience minimal pain throughout. May 2013 he did a total shoulder replacement. I had full range of motion within 3 weeks and again minimal pain. I would absolutely recommend this highly skilled surgeon. As he gets to know the patient better, his true personality comes out - a personable, skilled Dr.
