Dr.Panek is extremely unprofessional and has absolutely no bedside manner or empathy for his patients. He deserves no stars whatsoever and if there was a negative rating available that would be my choice. My disabled mother was having trouble with her prescription for a shower chair for a week after her surgery, we were in his office for her post op asking about it. He stated “Oh someone was talking about that yesterday and even the day before”, we asked if he could ensure she gets her shower chair so that she can shower post op. He stated-“well, what should the prescription say?” I stated that there is no way we should know what it should say. I stated that as the subject matter expert (podiatrist/doctor) wouldn’t you know what the prescription should say? He proceeded to call me rude and once my Mom heard that she was very upset. He then called security? He is apparently highly intimidated when someone questions his position? His staff is a reflection of how he acts and treats his patients as well. I will report this behavior to the medical board and the ADA and let everyone know the type of “doctor” John Panek is. Someone who does not take care of his patients, overlooks all of his appointments, never follows up on MYChart or messages, has a high turnover of staff, treats family members and their patients very disrespectfully and unprofessional. So go to this doctor is this is the type of care you would like to receive from a podiatrist.

Was very humiliated and talked down to. Dr. said nothing was wrong and was very belittling and condescending to me. He decided I should have an injection for the pain and it turned purple and bruised badly, making the pain worse. After a year and a half and another doctor, I finally found out I have a fracture with a bone fragment floating in my foot requiring surgery. This may not have been such a long journey if he had taken me seriously and pursued further investigation of my pain. Very disappointed.

Dr Panek removed a growth from my 13 year old daughter's foot. He explained everything he was doing to her and had excellent bedside manner. He used a cold spray prior to injecting anesthetic, which made it more comfortable. The staff was efficient and gave us thorough post-operative instructions. I would definitely recommend Dr Panek!

Dr. Panek is a fantastic doctor. I had a sucessful foot surgery over 2 years ago. Prior to him, I had no success with other podiatrists in the Albuquerque area on a rare foot condition. I'm looking to return to Dr. Panek on another foot issue. My overall experiences with other podiatrists, I feel that Dr. Panek is the best in his profession....I highly recommend him!

Dr. Panek has helped me through problems in both feet and major surgery on one foot. I have had cortisone injections (which can be painful), but he used numbing medicine and talked me through it. I could not ask for a more helpful, caring, and thorough doctor. Every thing is explained in great detail and all options are discussed before a decision is made.

I am a middle aged person who use to work in the medical field. This doctor spent maybe 8 minutes with me in which time, when I asked; he told me the procedure he was doing on my foot would "sting a little". I almost fainted with the pain when he proceeded. Then afterwards he tld me I did great because I "did not scream". I asked how long pain would last, he said a couple of hours. I was in major pain the rest of the day an next day. His nurse came in right afterwards, laid down my bill and said I could "stay an extra few minutes" if I was in pain. When asked if I could drive, the doctor had said "I hope so". Nurse said "you can wear your shoe out to the car and then take it off to drive". I was never given instructions on how to treat pain at home. When I asked nurse if I could use ice for pain, she said "I guess you could try that". I am completely discouraged about the healthcare system after seeing this doctor. Downright scary!

Dr. Panek is a wonderful Doctor, I had to have ankle surgery and he was very helpful in explaining the procedure and even followed up the next day to see how I was doing.
