As an RN I have serious concerns about the treatment and/or lack of treatment provided by Dr. Barnett Kantz. Dr. Kantz has been our family physician for approximately 15 years. I am not sure what has happened but he is no longer someone I would trust to address my family's health. There is a long list of mishaps but the most important include:

Several months ago I sent my 40 year old son to see Dr. Kantz r/t new onset migraines. Dr. Kantz did not order any tests and refused to order any blood work. He informed my son that this was probably his new normal and gave him medication for migraines. Considering my son has very good health, is vegan, exercises regularly is a meditation and yoga teacher and has never taken any prescription medications. This decision was very upsetting. Luckily my son got a second opinion from a St. Joseph physician and tests found a reversible issue called hyponatremia. In 2019 I was going through a very difficult time with my sister, who I am her caregiver, was diagnosed with Stage 4 ovarian cancer and her husband was diagnosed with Pancreatic cancer at the same time. I had gone to an appointment for an ear infection and blood pressure medication and tried to address onset of depression, which Dr. Kantz asked if I could schedule another appointment because they only address two issues a visit. I quickly answered the questions he should have asked me and he prescribed medication. The next issue concerns my physical on 5/4/21. At my appointment Dr. Kantz asked why I had stopped taking my blood pressure and depression medications I had been on previously. I explained I had been monitoring my blood pressure and it was WDL without medication and my systolic dropped below 100 with the medication and I became ill. Also I explained the stress I had been under was no longer there d/t my family members passing away and they were no longer necessary. I do have a genetic predisposition to Diabetes and had explained that I had been testing my blood glucose and it was elevated for the past few months. Dr. Kantz put DM II as a diagnosis but when I reviewed my lab results I noticed he did not order an HA1C. I wrote a message and requested it be added to the blood work and he responded "not necessary, but thank you." After this response I changed my provider to his NP Rene Alexander. The most recent issue was a request for an appointment on 9/20 for an appt. d/t symptoms of UTI. I made the request in Mychart at approx. 12:15pm the request was seen that afternoon and there was never a response for an appointment. My UTI progressed into kidney infection that was treated by a physician outside of the Promedica system. As a previous Promedica employee that recently resigned my position. I find Dr. Kantz's behavior to be unacceptable. After being a Promedica employee for over six years and personally working with many amazing physicians like Dr. Gidda, Dr. Gill, Dr. Pillai and other PPG physicians, I believe Promedica expects better care from their physicians that represent them.
