Dr. Hyman was somebody I grew to respect, admire and like. He didn't take any bullcrap, didn't like liars and was honest to a fault. He made me see that instead of looking at all the things I could no longer do, I should be looking instead at all the things I could. He gave me a better quality of life then I'd had and when I learned he was retiring I knew I'd never find another doctor like him. He didn't just suddenly stop practicing, I was notified two visits before his last day.

I think Doctor Hyman was a wonderful doctor, yes he could get upset, but as others commented, people tried to con him all the time.I saw him for over 5 years, & I came to really respect him, he never told me what pharmacy to use, but I was told I could use only 1 & had to give the info on it, & the name was put on my prescription monthly.I have never used any type of nerve pills, but I was told on day 1 that if I did, it wouldn't be tolerated & I would be dismissed, which I fully understood due to all the deaths of taking them with pain meds. I wish that whomever helped with Dr. Hyman not practicing anymore, had to live 1 day in my shoes, they would gladly re-instate him.I miss my monthly visits with Dr. Hyman & his wonderful staff & I hope they are doing good, if I had the opportunity of being a patient of Dr. Hyman's again, I would not hesitate a second in doing so.It was like a 5-6 hour drive monthly for me to go to Dr. Hyman, but I would gladly make the trip again.I sure miss you!

I was called a "bubba" matbe because I wore a Camo cap. I was also told by Dr.H that if I didn't fill my prescriptions at Walmart or another pharmacy he reccommended in Franklin, N.C. That he would kick me out of his clinic. Then 1 day I called to get my medical records to switch to a Real Dr. I was informed that my records were in Asheville at the office of the F.B.I. because his clinic had been raided and they took all his computers and all patient records. I knew something was up when he demanded I use His pharmacies. This man is an egotistical psycho, that treats patients like they are below him.I have never been so de-moralized by anyone espescially a Dr. like Miles Hyman. I have since moved back to my home town in Alabama. I ended up on this site searching to see why his office was raided by the F.B.I. The pharmacy he demanded me to use was raided the same day his was. I can't remember the name of the pharmacy, but it was the one he said I had to use other then Walmart. RUDE Man!

The only problem I had was an issue with xanax that i had'nt taken but picked up from pharm,My urine tests were all normal. I wish he would of came to me over this instead of just discharging me.I am stressed over what i should do now. He has a little cold our first visit but understand people who abuse medication has made him have 2 keep his guard up.I had no problem with his policy but i did read it & it had nothing in it bout picking up a script from the drug store just if I took the medication. My only problem is he never brought this 2 me, I got a letter the day of my appt in the mail saying i was discharged.Dont get me wrong he is a very good DR. I hate to lose him as one of mine. Usually if a DR. is so called mean or cold usually someone has wronged him, Dr's are regular people to. He is very smart also & he does know about pain, which made me feel connected.

Dr.Hyman has saved my life! I have read some of the other comments and understand what they are talking about.BUT ppl need to understand that he (Hyman) gets lied to and conned constantly by ppl wanting narcotics. That is why he comes off mean.Once you get to know him and he realizes that your not trying to con him...he is GREAT!!!!!I look forward to my appointments w/ him. I think he is an outstanding Dr.It's just that he has to be covering his behind all the time from scammers. Get to know him, he is AWESOME!!!!!The staff are all great too!I woulden't know what to do w/o Dr.Hyman.

I was shocked by this doctor's behavior. He was rude, intimidating on purpose, and verbally abusive. I found another doctor as quickly as possible. I still have a hard time believing a doctor can be so uncaring and disregarding of another person, and get away with it. Now I have a doctor who very competent and compassionate.

Hyman is a terrible person. I disagreed with him about something and he told me I was becoming something akin to aggressive. We argued for a few minutes about the fact that, as a nurse, I had to lift heavy patients and he countered that he did, too. He soon apologized saying I was right, drs. can refuse to lift patients but nurses can't so they have it harder. If it wasn't for my severe back pain AND Gene I would not go. He DID send me to another pain doctor to get a trial spinal-cord stimulator which I haven't had yet. He always wants just a "yes" or "no" to his questions and sits there dictating into his computer while you sit there waiting and waiting. He is a VERY hateful man and I become very anxious when it's time to see him instead of Gene. His office staff is friendly but of no help when you have simple questions which they should be able to answer.

I have been a patient of Dr. Hyman for 6 years. Twenty five years ago I was in a horrible car accident and spent the following years spending "thousands" of dollars at spine clinics, countless other doctors, not to mention scans, x-rays, blah, blah, blah. After being referred by a back surgeon to Dr. Hyman, finally, my life and most importantly the "quality" of my life are similiar to a normal person. I work 40-50 hrs. per week and am able to provide for my familys future. THANK YOU DR HYMAN!!! If you were "kicked-out" or "discharged" there is a 97% chance that you had ILLEGAL DRUGS in your system. Those numbers are facts not "assumptions' or "hear says". With that being said, I am sure none of us have a clue as to the quidelines or the hoops he has to jump through just to help people that "REALLY" need it, rather than people that just want a drug or a free ride.
