Biography
At Premier Obstetrics and Gynecology, Dr. John van Wert is a leading OB/GYN, serving patients in and around the Greater Metro Orlando area in their Maitland, Florida offices. Dr. van Wert is a board certified obstetrician and gynecologist who has been practicing for over 28 years. He provides services such as bioidentical hormone replacement, menopause management, vaginal surgery and rejuvenation, and robotic hysterectomies in addition to standard gynecology services. Dr. van Wert obtained his undergraduate degree at Duke University in North Carolina, his medical degree from Vanderbilt University Medical School in Tennessee and residency at the University of Florida in Gainesville. Dr. van Wert excels in gynecologic surgery, especially laparoscopic surgery and robotic hysterectomies. He has been named as one of Central Florida’s “Top Doctors” multiple times. Dr. van Wert is a long-standing board certified member of The American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and is also a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery and the American Association of Cosmetic Gynecologists. Dr. van Wert is married to Dr. Anne K. van Wert of Nemours Children’s Primary Care in Maitland and has two children. Both Christopher and Alexandra attended Duke University. Dr. van Wert enjoys multiple outdoor sports including cycling, skiing (snow and water) and sailing, but also loves cooking dinner for his family on a frequent basis. Dr. van Wert also pursues cosmetic procedures as well. Dr. van Wert has been extensively trained in VASER LipoSelection, Fraxel Laser and Intense Pulsed Light therapies, Non-invasive UltraShape fat removal, and injectables such as Botox, Dysport, Juvederm, Restylane, and Perlane. He continues to have a very active Gynecology and Surgery career and welcomes all new patients to Premier, where our providers strive to care for patients in the most technologically advanced, safest and comfortable environment available while maintaining the highest level of professional ethics and expertise.

Several years ago, I was looking for a gynecologist and a friend referred me to Dr. John van Wert at Premier OB/GYN in Maitland, FL. What a great reference! The office runs efficiently, appointment scheduling is hassle-free, and communication from the nurses and office staff is timely and friendly. I have been very satisfied with Dr. van Wert’s medical care and greatly admired his vast knowledge and expertise though I have not had any troubling medical issues…until now.
After failed appointments with other doctors, I made an appointment with Dr. van Wert, even though my medical issue was not purely gynecological, but more hormonal. I needed a doctor who would listen, and if nothing else, point me in the right direction. Dr. van Wert gave me his full attention, considered medical information I researched without becoming defensive, asked clarifying questions, generated multiple treatment options, and most importantly, validated my concerns. Leaving that appointment with peace of mind and medical choices was such a relief.
If you are looking for a doctor that puts caring at the root of practicing medicine and values the physician-patient relationship, then you will want to make an appointment with Dr. John van Wert. My only regret is that I did not take the time to share this information sooner so that others could benefit from Dr. van Wert’s medical care and escape the 6-minute, medical assembly line.
