Went in for a root canal yesterday. When I scheduled the appointment they said I would owe $268 on the day of the root canal. I thought that number seemed low compared to what they had mentioned previously so I called back to confirm. The woman told me that the reason it was lower was because my previous quote included the crown but that would be done a separate day for a separate cost. So I confirmed, "When I write a check on the day of the root canal, what amount will that be for?" and she said "it will be $268." Well surprise surprise yesterday they said I owed $415. I protested and the billing person said that whoever I talked to must have only looked at the price for just the root canal and not the build-up which is mandatory. Her only offer was that I didn't have to pay it all at once. I have the money, but that isn't the point, they gave me wrong information because of their own error and did nothing to correct it or take responsibility for it. Further, they underestimated how much my insurance would cover for a filling last year and I paid $13 more that day then I ended up owing. Instead of letting me know or sending me a check, I didn't find out until I got my EOB weeks later and when I called them they said I had a $13 statement credit. That's my money and they should not just keep it. What if I didn't want to go there again, were they planning on keeping my $13? Unfortunately I will have to go back for the crown, but after that, my husband and I will be taking our business elsewhere.

They claim to be excellent with kids but the experience I had with my 6 year old was horrible. He had 2 fillings in April, one of which the dentist hit the nerve, nothing was said and now the tooth is absessed. The other filling has broken part of the tooth off. He has had some other work done there that was not done correctly. Had to take my son to a pediatric dentist and was shown the x-rays that were taken at sterling dental compared to the x-rays taken at the pediatric dentist. I don't know much about x-rays but even if could tell the ones taken at sterling dental left a lot to be desired. Now my son has to have the absessed tooth extracted I am out what I paid at sterling dental plus at least another $2700 at least, this is to fix all the mistakes that sterling has done in the past 2 years. Not to mention my son is now scared to death to go to the dentist because he thinks they are going to hurt him like sterling dental did. That in its self is another issue I have with them. The last time he was there the dentist was running way behind, his appointment was at 430 and he didn't get in until 530 so then the job was rushed and no patient care was taken what so ever. We have contacted Sterling dental about making it right but they showed no interest in doing anything about it. I have contacted my dental insurance company but there isn't much they can do. My next step is to contact the Dental Association to see if they can help. I would gladly talk to anyone interested about my experience so feel free to call 573-220-5572. Excellent in every way! Dr. Malaker is a great dentist and I have been comfortable every time I have visited his office. I would recommend him without any reservation.

First off, I was in indescribable pain when I first called Sterling Dental. I called them because I take my two year old there, and they are always great with him. I had never visited the office as a patient and needed to fix what was going on with my teeth immediately. They got me in the same day I called inquiring about an appointment. They had not ever billed my insurance company, but they didn't hesitate to get me in to be seen. The staff was polite, and treated me very kindly. After an x-ray they decided my tooth needed to be extracted. I expected to be in pain until I was able to make another appointment, but Dr. Malaker came in the room and did the extraction then and there. I cant express my gratitude and would recommend this office and doctor to anyone and all ages!!! You rock Sterling Dental!!!

I think that Dr. Malaker is fine. He only rarely actually sees my child. Most often my child sees a dental assistant (Julie or Mary) and they have been fantastic - skilled and kind and patient. If you can ignore the rude receptionist, I think everything else is fine, so far!

Great dentist and office staff! We just moved to Columbia from Michigan and I woke up with excruciating pain from a wisdom tooth this morning. I have a lot of anxiety when I go to the dentist and this office was AMAZING! I called this morning and they got me in the same day and was able to pull my wisdom tooth! I would highly recommend Dr Malaker and his staff, I am happy that we have found a dentist for our family in Columbia.

I have anxiety over going to the dentist due to some bad dental experiences. Dr. Colin Malaker is the only dentist I feel comfortable with. From the time I get there until I leave everyone makes sure I am ok, not feeling any pain. I have several family members who are also patients. If you have any fear or anxiety over going to the dentist, this is definitly the place for you to go.

I have been going to sterling dental care for 4 years. And i can honestly say I love all the staff and I will never go to another dentist. I have went to other places in the past and i will never go to another office.

I take my 2 year old son to Dr.Malaker and he is awesome. The assistants always make it fun For him even though he is not a fan of having his teeth brushed. He is comfortable and let's them do everything that is asked. Great office!!

If you are scared of a Dentist this is the place to go. We live in Florida and fly to Dr Malaker in Columbia for all our dental work. Great guy, awesome staff and fantastic setup. We always feel very comfortable. One stop as just about everything is done in-house including root canals and crowns. Very funny Doctor and great supporting wife that makes you feel at home.
