Biography
Dr. Claudio Sandoval received his undergraduate education from the City College, where he performed research on Drosophila genetics. He received his Doctor of Medicine degree from New York Medical College (1987), where he performed research on the effects of interferons on hematopoiesis. He trained in pediatrics at Schneider Children’s Hospital, and did his subspecialty training in pediatric hematology-oncology at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, where he studied therapy-related secondary leukemias, and the granulocyte colony stimulating factor receptor in children with Kostmann syndrome. Both of these areas of research were presented at national meetings as oral and poster presentations and published in peer-reviewed journals (Leukemia, Blood, and the Journal of Clinical Oncology). Dr. Sandoval is board certified in pediatrics and pediatric hematology-oncology, and currently holds the rank of Professor of Pediatrics at New York Medical College. He is actively involved in teaching medical students and residents. Moreover, he is active in both clinical and basic science research in the fields of ataxia-telangiectasia and minimal disease detection in pediatric acute lymphoblastic leukemia. He has authored or co-authored 76 research papers in peer-reviewed journals, and is an active member in the American Society of Pediatric Hematology-Oncology and the American Society of Clinical Oncology.

Two words: careless and uninformative. He missed important milestones in his patient's treatment. He was completely in the dark about his patient's status but assured everyone everything was ok constantly even though on several occasions it wasn't. He missed important symptoms of other complications which were later caught by other doctors. He rarely returned a call from his patient. He and his group are absolutely horrible at communicating vital information to patients to the point where if you want information you have to get it yourself. I would not recommend anyone in this group with the Exception of Dr. O to anyone. Please stay away for your own good.
