Biography
Dr. Maurizio Miglietta is dual board-certified in General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care. He Dr. Miglietta has served as Chief of Trauma & Critical Care at New York University School of Medicine/Bellevue Hospital as well as Chief of Acute Care Surgery at Columbia University/NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. Dr. Miglietta is a respected surgeon and brings broad experience and extensive surgical expertise. Dr. Miglietta graduated from Rutgers University and received a degree of Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine at New York College of Osteopathic Medicine of the New York Institute of Technology. He completed his General Surgery residency at St. Barnabas Hospital in New York. He then completed the prestigious Trauma & Critical Care Fellowship at the University of Maryland / R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center. Dr. Miglietta has continued to further his skills by training and advancing minimally invasive procedures such as Robotic Surgery, performing gallbladder operations and hernia surgery with little to no post-operative pain and quicker healing times. Dr. Miglietta is also trained in Hyperbaric & Wound Care Medicine and currently serves as Medical Director if the Healogics Wound Care Center at Hudson Regional Hospital. Dr. Miglietta is a pioneer in medical education in Northern New Jersey. Dr. Miglietta is a Professor of Surgery and Regional Dean at Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine and Assistant Professor of Surgery at Mount Sinai School of Medicine. Dr. Miglietta served as the Director of Medical Education and Program Director of a General Surgery residency program at Palisades Medical Center where he created and led the program for 6 years; training future physicians and surgeons. Dr. Miglietta actively teaches medical students during their clinical rotations. Dr. Miglietta is fluent in Italian and speaks medical Spanish.
