Very Unprofessional...Beware!
I can write a full page or two about my experience (today); 10/13/2022. I have been under the care with BioSpine Institute for approximately 3 months. All my visits with the doctor; DR Roiderick Claybrooks, were going fine until today. I was scheduled for spinal fusion on S1 and L5 on October 3rd 2022. This surgery was postponed due to hurricane IAN. New date was, pre operation appointment (today), 10/13/2022 and the surgery the 24th of October.
About me; I'm a heart care patient and I have an Aortic mechanical heart valve so I'm on blood thinners. All of this was disclosed on my file paperwork and to Dr Claybrooks on my first visit to Biospine in Orlando FL.
I show up for the pre-op appointment today at 1:30pm (one hour drive from Cocoa to Orlando plus tolls), and was told that both the surgery and this appointment was canceled. No phone calls, or messages from Bio Spine about the cancellations.
The person at the front desk stated that a representative had tried to call me but couldn't reach me so as to cancel the appointments. They then verified my phone number on their computers and stated that my phone number was one digit off. Funny, they've contacted me before without issue using my number.
I waited in the waiting room for the manager to speak with me. She stated that an admin talked to me on the 27th of September and I made a statement that I could not come off the Warfarin (blood thinner). I can assure you that I never told anyone that I can not come off of Warfarin. I told the manager that that didn't happen. I've had surgeries in the past and I had to give myself shots of Heparin that's known as "bridging" five days before surgery.
The PA or head nurse at BioSpine called me while I was leaving the office today, 10/13/2022, and stated that they couldn't perform the needed surgery due to the Heparin (Lovenox) that I would have to take before surgery.
My complaint is; Why didn't BioSpine administration or Dr Roderick Claybrooks inform me of this issue way back on my first appointment. Biospine has put my through all the surgical pre operation procedures including, blood test, clearance with my heart care specialist (EKG), CT scan and all the prior appointments.
I do not recommend this organization as they a VERY unprofessional and frankly, waste your time and your insurance provider's money. Share this far and WIDE!!
