Dr. Lieberman is very rude and arrogant. He kept me waiting in his office for 2 hours and 30 minutes. When he finally came in he spent 5 minutes with me and talked down to me. I recently read his reviews and the word rude is listed a lot. He basically just told me to live with my back pain and left the room.

Do not go to Dr Lieberman was not impressed with him at all. Had an ACDF last year with a dr who was awesome. (Should have gone back to see but, is in another city) I have been in constant neck pain and horrible headaches and nothing helps. Told me that there was nothing he could do for the pain and suggested PT. I’ve already been to PT which did not help actually made things worse. Then asked me what I wanted him to do. Then told me to come back in 3 months to follow up. Uhm nope. Not giving this doctor any more of my money. Don’t waste your time with him.

Did a bait and switch with me. Long story short. Went to Dr. Lieberman for a long fusion, scoliosis. the night before surgery he changed plans on me and did not consult be about the change. Purely irresponsible on his part and I came out with a Lumbar Fusion. Now suffering from FBSS. Don't trust Dr Lieberman.

Abandon all hope ye who seek any help from this doctor.
- That might sound dramatic, but I mean it in the truest sense.

To recap my story - I'm a couple years out from a failed back surgery, and a half a year out from a SCS implant that hasn't addressed my back pain. My parents heard about this doctor from an acquaintance whose relative had gone through multiple surgeries and they had a successful one with Dr. Lieberman, so we thought we would give him a try.

The first visit at his office with one of his assistants went beautifully. They took x-rays, the PA went over the x-rays and showed the problem areas and what would likely need to be done to fix them. They scheduled me for a CT scan, which we were able to get downstairs the same day. It took a while longer than they had told me to expect that it would take to get the results. (Which is fine. I DO NOT mind waiting for a good doctor/surgeon.)

So we go into my appointment with Dr. Lieberman himself. (I brought my 7 year old along so he could ask questions) Everything is seeming normal, until shortly after he enters the room. He asked me to do some moves that my PT had advised against, but I figured since he was the doctor - that I wanted to do whatever he was saying to do in order to get my best shot at recovery.

He then got within a few inches of my face and started asking things like "What are you expecting here?", "How do you hope to improve?" - Which I flat out said that I was coming to see him for options on how to improve, that I had gone through PT with no improvement, was on pain killers I didn't want to be on, and that after my last visit at his office they had said there were some serious structural issues with my lower back that he should be able to fix.

Then he went into a tirade about how yes, I did have structural issues in my spine, but the pain wasn't where he expected it to be. He said there are other people in the world who have worse spine issues and live with it, and that I should get off of pain medications and "deal with it".

I was devastated.

I barely get through each day. I've gone through previous surgeries and can guarantee you I WOULD NOT ask for another surgery if I was only in a small amount of constant pain. I've gone through multiple rounds of PT with no success, and religiously do my PT exercises at home. If I had been at all prepared for that kind of response, and my kid hadn't been there, I would have stood my ground a bit more. However as it was, I was crushed.

I WOULD NOT recommend seeing this doctor to anyone who is truly looking for help to get better, and I would not go back to see him even if they comped the visit/surgery.

If you do go to this vile doctor, please steel yourself and prepare for him to not be helpful even if you've had a delightful visit with his assistants. You have been warned. <3

Outstanding surgeon! The staff and facilities are also top notch. Over the years I began to have back problems and was diagnosed with Spinal Stenosis. On 10/20/2010 I was operated on by Dr. Isadore Lieberman of Texas Back Institute at Presbyterian Hospital of Plano, TX. He performed a Posterior Bilateral L3/4 & L4/5 Laminotomies (spinal decompression surgeries involving the lamina, a thin bony layer that covers and protects the spinal canal and spinal cord) and Facetectomies (surgical procedure which involves decompression of a spinal nerve root). Post surgery comments: Nerve extremely compressed; shaved bone L3/4 and L4/5. Herniated disc L3/4 raised and was compressing nerves. Herniated disc slid back into place after shaving not requiring a Discectomy. Surgery began at 1:57 PM and completed at 3:54 PM. Wheeled from recovery at 5:15 PM and into private room.

I just recently went into see Dr. Lieberman because i have severe Scoliosis and i had neck surgery in May. I chose Dr. Lieberman to go see because from what i read about him on the internet i was under the impression that he was a good doctor that cared about his patients. Well come to find out that i was very wrong. He treated me with no remorse or compassion the whole time i was there. He could see how much pain and discomfort i was in and he simply did not care. He acted as if he did not care to hear what i was trying to tell him about my condition. By the time i left his office i was in tears. I have never been treated so bad by any other doctor in my whole life til i went to see him. I will never recommend him or any doctor from Texas Back Institute to anyone. If they cant treat their patients with common courtesy and respect then they need to find another profession.

Dr. Lieberman was the third specialist I consulted regarding a ruptured disc in my spine, which was excruciatingly painful. He confidently and clearly explained my options, none of which was particularly appealing. I opted to have immediate surgery, which Dr. Lieberman explained was serious and complex because it involved more than one delicate procedure, up to 6 hours on the table, and multiple incision and entry points. To ensure that I made an informed decision, he explained the risks and corresponding probability of success. When my insurance carrier attempted to deny coverage for the procedure, Dr. Lieberman went to bat on my behalf and obtained the authorization required to proceed. Fortunately, the surgery was successful and I made a very rapid recovery. It is a relief to finally be pain-free again, able to resume phyiscal activity. I remain eternally grateful to Dr. Lieberman and can now personally attest to his exceptional skill as a spinal specialist and top-notch surgeon.

Dr. Lieberman is a gift in my life. He allowed me to walk again after losing that ability in 1997. He has since done one additional, and more complex, surgery to enable me to continue to do the things I do. After he relocated to Cleveland Clinic's Florida Campus, I was very concerned. However, when I saw him prior to his leaving their Main Campus in 2008, he assured me that he would be willing to be my surgeon for the rest of my life. I am only 39 and as such, am a very likely candidate for more surgeries. If necessary, he will have a CCF colleague perform emergent surgeries, but if it is planable, he will come back up to Cleveland to do the surgery himself. What else can you ask from a physician? He is not inclinded to immediately always perform surgery. He weighs the risks and benefits and presents them to you. He always lets you know that the ultimate choice is yours and here's what will happen with either choice. As I said, he performed a miracle on me. He is a gift to the world.

Dr. Lieberman operated on my cervical spine in 1996 in Ontario Canada. The man is brillant. I had a double level discectomy and fusion.I was terrified but he was so reassuring and so confident in his own skills that I went in to surgery knowing that I was in good hands. Everything went great! Canada's loss is the United States gain. I so wish he was still here, as I need more surgery.
