Dr. Wellman is the reason I am alive, not paralyzed and able to have a normal-like life after a motorcycle accident resulting the fracture of 6 out of 7 of my C Vertebrae. He performed a Looooong surgery to repair and fuse C3 - 4- -5 on the first round and stabilize me enough to begin what would be a long recovery, including two more surgical procedures after I was sable enough to fly home weeks later..... When I first arrived I was not fully at my best, yet he took his time explaining to me my condition and options. He was far more thorough during the time he spent with my family and spouse once they were able to get to South Dakota since they were far more capable of understanding than I was, since at that point, being the patient is the easy part, I just had to lay there. Everything he and his team did was outstanding in my book, and now nearly 10 years later I am still able to walk, talk and do other every day things that defied my condition upon delivery to the capable hands of Dr. Wellman and the Sanford group in SF SD.

So pleased with my spinal surgery fusion! Dr. Wellman was knowledgeable, kind, answered all our questions, and totally fixed my back!! I can walk again, thanks to his expertise. No pain, after 3 months off all restrictions. I would 100% recommend him.

MD took very limited history and performs a very inadequate physical exam tends to think surgery first prone to making incorrect diagnosis leading to improper reccommendations
