I went in today for acne that I've been struggling with for years. I've always hesitated to see a dermatologist because I didn't want to be pumped with a bunch of drugs and creams. I had an 8 am appt and I was there a half hour early. They got me in right at 8 and the spot in its entirety was only 10 maybe 15 minutes. The First Lady that checked me in was very nice, helped break the ice for me. Then the n Dr. Higgins came in. He was out in five minutes. He looked at my face, back and chest and said " yep, she's a perfect candidate." Candidate for what? What trial are you putting me through. He spoke a lot of medical jargon that I didn't understand and spoke so fast that I didn't get a chance to say anything. This was such a terrifying thing for me to do with something so sensitive to me and personal and I felt like he didn't care. He did exactly what I didn't want which was prescribe me two oral me and two topicals and I'm suppose to take four of one oral and two of the other each day. Didn't really explain things in a way that someone who didn't study medicine would understand. I waited two months for this appointment and was nervous and scared and wanting answers to the cause of my acne at the age of 27. I will not be taking anything he prescribed me since I have no idea what they are and what they do or don't do. I felt so rushed like me being there was an inconvenience to him and that he had better things to do than help me, which is his job. I will be looking for someone who will take the time to explain things to me and actually cares about my situation.

I found the front office staff to be very rude. I had three procedures done and never followed up on the last one that needed completed. They just seemed indifferent. I will be following up with a new dermatolgist this week and hopefully will have a better outcome.

Dr. Higgins has a straight forward approach this is true. He has always been very clear about what each portion of the treatment will cost and pulls no fancy moves to over bill the customer. He will remove moles without hesitation but will always explain the pro's and con's of leaving the mole or removing it. He offered me cream to use when I had a small patch of skin cancer that worked well instead of cutting it out and leaving a scar. I like his approach though other's were put off by his direct and quirky personality. He is very knowledgeable about the skin if you don't mind his bedside manner. I have been to other dermatologists that tried to over bill, and not be direct with me about my options of treatment, and I have never had this happen with Dr. Higgins. One other thing-- I did have to get over the strange picture of his mentor doctor/mantra he has hanging in his treatment rooms, but to each his own.

My son saw a PA in this office for treatment of warts. The front office staff seems short and put pff with questions. The appts were at least 45 mintues behind each of the three visits. This was frustrating as I was there with my 5 year old and then had maybe 10 minutes with the PA who had an odd bedside manner with our son. I had to ask what he was doing and call back for clarification on the wound care, none of which was explained to us. I called to reschedule my sons latest appt due to school starting. I mentioned trying to see a more punctual DR in the practice and was told in a snide tone, "frankly any of our DRs can be that behind". I have made an appointment with another derm in town and will not be going back to this practice.

Felt rushed and even when I asked I received "NO" follow up instructions for when lidocaine wore off. OUCH. Medication for one of the problems has not worked and I am extremely hesitant to go back, most likely will not.

He was very helpful when I had a situation arise which my family dr could not help. I returned to him later on and found his office very busy which to me is a sign that he is good at what he does.

Dr. Higgins was extremely uncaring about my medical condition. He had a smirk on his face the whole time and didn't express any compassion about my issue. He also talked about me in third person to his cna while I was in the room. The entire experience was horrible and a waste of money. He gave me very little of his time as well. I would never return.
