My husband had been a patient of Dr. Atefi in the early 90's but our insurance stopped us from being able to utilize his great service. Last year 3 hospitals in Cobb county turned my husband away as they were unable to find out why he was screaming from severe pain in his chest. We contacted Dr. Atefi's office and he immediately saw my husband in Cumming admitted him to North Fulton Hospital and after several tests they found he had lung cancer of which 3 other hospitals did not find after xrays. He stayed with him thru this ordeal and he is one doctor of great compassion. If any one has had any problem with him they should talk to him as he would not want them to feel he did not do his job.

Very unfriendly office. Had to "force" appointment for ordered CT scan. No call backs until I persisted. Have not been told what I am to do or what test results found. Was told by Dr. I would hear from him very soon. Was not available for any consult or clarification on why he is ordering further tests. I will obtain my medical records and find another dr asap. I have had this problem before and went to him because of getting an appointment quickly in the Cumming office. If he only uses N Fulton Hospital, I would definitely not recommend him to anyone.

This doctor was more than an hour late for the initial appointment & the staff indicated that this was normal. When the procedure appointment needed to be changed, the calls went to voice mail & the staff never returned any of the 3 attempts. The office did call, however, to find out why I was "late" for the procedure appointment which I had made clear in the previous calls had to be changed. This doctor & his staff are representive of the portion of the medical profession that totally disregards the patient's time & psychological well being. Since I've had 2 bad experiences with this office, I will strongly recommend to my PC & anyone who asks that other patients should not be referred to Dr. Atefi.

I was taken back for Upper GI and was forgotten for over an hour and a half- no one seemed to know whose patient I was. I was rolled in the back hallway and given my diagnosis with 2-3 other patients sitting there (not patient confidentality) when I went for follow up to his office - I sat in the waiting room 50 minutes and when taken back...another 35 minutes then Dr. Atefi spent less than 10 minutes with me. My overall bill was expensive and I did not feel I receive proper diagnosis. I was very disappointed. Each encounter was a poor experience.

After meeting him, I cancelled my procedure. I don't trust a doctor who tells me I should be going to church or reading the bible.
