I've seen Dr. Sampson twice under two circumstances. He is educated and intelligent, but also arrogant, abrasive, and rather caustic. He operates under an older model of psychiatry which prioritizes his thoughts, feelings, and observations about the patient over any self-reported symptoms. He might be okay in a branch of medicine that heavily relies on repeatable diagnostics. Dr. Samson as an authoritarian psychiatrist, does not help or advocate for the mental health of the community. Rather, he draws his own conclusions about patients and projects that as "The Reality" with little room for a patient to add nuance to their condition, symptoms, behaviors or diagnoses. The man comes up way too often in my own therapy to have only ever met with him twice for maybe 15 minutes? - many years ago. I can say he was gracious enough to refill the medicines I was already taking, which is all the springboard I needed to find any live prescribing body that would carry on those duties in order to relieve me of dealing with his flagrant snark ever again. He is certainly intelligent and hardworking, but I'm not really sure what kind of patient would flourish under that kind of dynamic, nor can I come up with any good things about his doctor. Based on conversations I've had with others, I'm not alone in my perceptions.

I saw Dr. Samson for over 5 years and he was ALWAYS the most repectful and caring doctor I have been in contact with. He pulled me through a very difficult time. I guess it is a very personal thing this Doctor/Patient Relationship...I would recommend him

2 visits. Going to another Dr. He's rude and arrogant, cares more about legalities than working with the patient's family members. 2nd appointment he was late and only spent 15 minutes in consultation, gave prescriptions and left the office. During the consultation got up, grabbed the PDR (Physician's Desk Reference) from a bookshelf and stated that all medications in there were bad for you. Called his office once on a medication emergency, never even got a courtesy call back. He should have his license pulled just for bad attitude.
