I had a goiter with normal thyroid tests, tests indicating Parathyroid problems, many depressed and painful symptoms. 1st appt. he did a BREAST exam, no talking about my symptoms or the Parathyroid tests. 2nd appt. he found nothing in the scans or tests. Took a personal phone call then told me even if he took out ALL my parathyroid glands AND my thyroid, I wouldn't feel better because I had Hashimoto's which has no cure (and which hadn't been tested for yet). Told me time was up for questions, if I wanted to talk, make another appt. He was rude, wrote I didn't know who was the doctor on my records (because I had questions from doing my research that I never got to ask? ) I left feeling sick, scared and hopeless. I found another doctor up to date on the Parathyroid. Showed him the same tests. He saw my problem, removed **TWO** tumors, and checked all 4 glands! 3 months ago, I had a 30 minute outpatient surgery w/ a 1" scar I'm sure will fade by the new doctor. I felt better the same day, joint and muscle pains gone. Depression better, even kidneys tested better. Seems maybe McElreath needs to retire as many of the positive reviews are older. He doesn't seem up to date on Parathyroidectomy, so beware.

I recently had my thyroid removed by Dr. McElreath. He was very thorough in his explanation of what he was going to do. I had no need of pain medication post-op and had what felt like a very sore throat for 3-4 days. The incision is in a crease on my neck and once healed I expect will be nearly invisible. I would highly recomment Dr. McElreath.

Seeing him for breast cancer. His knowledge base is current and on the mark. Several surgeries needed due to the nature of the issue. Good listener and excellent description of procedures , purpose, possible complications and outcomes. Interesting that every health care professional I know or talked with had nothing but praise for his skill and attitude which was offered without inquiry. His scheduler Cheri is amazing...she well coordinated my surgeries and referrals appt. to oncologist. His manner helped put me at ease about going the process necessary to fight cancer.

I was referred to Dr. McElreath by my endocrinologist for sub total thryoidectomy back in 2004. I am a retired general practitioner and I have a definite frame of reference to evaluate someone in the medical field. Dr. McElreath did everything perfect including a complete and thorough explanation of his diagnosis and surgical plan along with the potential risks for adverse outcome. He reviewed with me his experience with this type of surgery and led me step by step through what to expect once I arrived at the hospital, during the surgery and recovery and right up to and including discharge. His demeanor was professional, yet friendly and his staff was exactly the same. My post surgical results were exacly as outlined by Dr. McElreath. I had no complications. Dr. McElreath pre surgically even addressed another issue and cautioned me to avoid surgery on that problem (I had considered it) and gave me clear and cogent reasons. I would sek out Dr. McElreath again in a minute if needed.

He and his staff are so great to work with! All friendly, kind, humerous and good at what they do. So pleasant. The best over-all medical team I've ever had. You can tell they enjoy working together, which helps put you at ease. Both surgeries went great! :}
