This Dr seems to have Alzheimer's as he forgets everything. He once was a brilliant physician who taught for many years as a professor but unfortunately age has diminished his memory. He forgets even who you are and he has bursts of indignant tantrums filled with unintelligible argument. Save yourself the trouble and allow Dr Notman to enjoy his retirement in peace. Seek a different physician who you won't be a passing hobby too. It's very sad because the light is on but no one is home. You'll be more frustrated than its worth. His memory loss could cost you you're life.

Incompetent is the only word I can come up with to describe him. I called 2 days ago to report my heart had gone into a-fib again (hyper thyroid) and was told to keep my appointment with him that was already setup 13 days from then. I don't think he cares about anything or anybody. Wish I would have seen these reviews before going to him.

I'm glad he's my endo and I'm happy with his knowledge and wisdom. He's an excellent Endocrinologist. Not a great conversationalist. Asking questions can be tricky. His office is understaffed and the waiting room is always crowded, but that’s not his fault.

I am grateful to have found Dr. Notman because his astute attention to detail brought me back to good health. My doctor here in Lansing spent years trying to help me without bothering to refer me to a Specialist. Thank you Dr. Notman - in one visit you turned my life around.

I could repeat the horrible bedside manner stories, but since his move to the new facility, the staff seems overwhelmed and unwilling (unable) to respond quickly enough. I called 5 days in advance for a simple refill on a prescription. I was told they could not legally do that without another visit to Grand Rapids. In effect, the fact that my 17 year old would be off meds for two weeks did not seem to cause them any concern. there answer was to just take all the pills missed once it was refilled. We are changing doctors.

I do not recommend, he is arrogant about his knowledge, not a people person. Told me I was to go off my thyroid med, I tried for over a year and kept telling him I couldn't, I drop so quick and get very weak to the point of not functioning. They kept telling me it's not your thyroid then, so I ask him what else could it be? He says to ask my primary physician he couldn't tell me. He is supposed to be an endocrinologist and it all related to that thyroid pill, but he couldn't or didn't even try to tell me!!! That is my last time there, after doing blood work that day, they call and tell me to get back on my meds and get my level up as fast as I can, after telling me for so long that I had to go off it. It was very hard on my heart to go up and down like that and also affected my cholesterol and blood pressure. There aren't many endocrinologists in Kent county, they have us over a barrel and the wait is long to get in to see one.

I've been seeing Dr. Notman for about 17 years and he is wonderful. I see him annually and have never been disappointed. His demeanor is somewhat matter of fact, but that's just a personality trait in my opinion. He has never been rude or unpleasant. Most importantly, he is an excellent and very well respected doctor!

I waited 45 minutes in the outer waiting room, then was escorted into an inner office and waited alone for another 1 hour and 10 minutes. Then Dr Nottman came in and escorted me to his personal office for a 1 hr lecture. He asked me a number of questions, took notes, then ordered a battery of blood tests. He is a very domineering, arrogant, old-school doctor who needs to come into the 21 century. He reminded me of an old 1950's type physician with a 'better-than-thou' attitude. After the first 10 minutes I lost all trust in the man and decided then and there that I was going to go to a different doctor. I would not recommend this man, only because of his attitude, as I did not allow him treat me.

This doctor is full of crab. I went there yesterday for the first time, my pcp send me to him. He didn't answer any of my questions. Very difficult to work with. I'm just waiting for the blood test and then I will to to another dr. and ask for the second opinion. I had a very very bad experience.
