Biography
Dr. Evelyn Perez is a residency-trained medical optometrist, fluent in English and Spanish. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology degree at Adelphi University in New York. Her Doctor of Optometry and Bachelor of Science in Visual Science degrees were earned from the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago. She completed a residency in Geriatric/Hospital-based Medical Optometry at the West Los Angeles Veteran’s Affairs Medical Center. During this time, she presented cases at the American Academy of Optometry and co-authored a published article in a peer reviewed journal. Following completion of her residency, she served as a clinical instructor at the Illinois College of Optometry and later at the Southern California College of Optometry. As a result of her clinical instructor experience, Dr. Perez was chosen to serve as a clinical examiner for the California section of the National Board of Examiners in Optometry. Dr. Perez’s scope of practice includes comprehensive optometric care; the diagnosis and management of glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy and macular degeneration; the treatment of anterior segment conditions; and the pre- and postoperative care associated with ocular surgeries including cataract, pterygium, and strabismus. Dr. Perez is passionate about providing patient care with compassion and enthusiasm.

As I entered the doctors office there was no greeting from staff. When I entered the room to see Dr. Perez, as well didn't receive a greeting. My visit was an annual eye exam/lens appointment. Dr. Perez assumed that I was referred by a specialist. I repeated to say I was not referred. She continue to cut me off. Dr. Perez asked me a couple of questions and I did the same however, when Dr. Perez responded to my question; Dr. Perez made a remark and said, "as a doctor I'm telling you", in such a demeaning way. I was surprised. I felt worthless. I understand Dr. Perez had other patients waiting. The visit was to short as if Dr. Perez had no time for her patients. I was caught off guard. The unprofessional behavior by Dr. Evelyn Perez was a BIG disappointment and failed to meet my expectations. I have visited the office of Dr, Urrea's in Monterey Park in the past and for now, I will discontinue to seek eye care treatment with Dr. Perez. Thank you for you time & cooperation.
