I just read the review down below and the same thing happened to me. Dr Iyer put me on two expensive medications, and now he is refusing to do a preauthorization for the insurance company. His staff called me last week, informing me he won't do preauthorization's! What the heck! The insurance company complained to us that it had a hard time communicating with him. All they wanted was the preauthorization for the medication. The specialized pharmacy also said they had a hard time. His staff told me the next time I run out of it, I am supposed to call my insurance company and see what they recommend. REALLY!!! He's the doctor. I could hardly believe my ears when they called me.

Dr. Iyer fit me into his busy schedule without an appointment because my PCP called him. I was very sick. He put me on nebulizer with meds. I am very grateful to him. His staff explained how to use the neb and were very nice.

Dr. Iyer does not seem interested in his patients. He gave me the impression I was a burden to him. Had a sleep study done and told him my insurance has a $ 3,000 lifetime payout and needed the basic model CPAP machine. He responded " the lady's up front take care of all that" I was not given a choice of medical supply providers, I was referred to Duke Medical supply who sold me a machine that was $ 4600, taking advantage of me. I think Dr. Iyer must have partial ownership in Duke Medical supply and thats why you dont get a choice to shop around. Could not start over since my insuarnace money is spent. When I did my own research I found the SAME CPAP machine online for $ 795, but is was to late, my insurance money was spent, Dr. Iyer took advantage of my naivety.

Dr Iyer gives prescriptions such as Nexium that require prior approval from the insurance company. He then refusses to submit the prior approal form to the insurance company or provide a Rx for an alternative medication. In my case when pressed to do so he comitted and then failed to call in the replacement Rx to the pharmancy. His staff ws not truthful reporting forms and communications were faxed to the insurance company one day, the next reporting they can't because they haven't received a blank from from the insurance company and Dr. Iyer has instructed them not to request the forms. End result I am without medication for a week, have no replacement alternative and his office refuses to communicate with the insurance company, the pharmancy or me. His comment is, the insurace requirement is too burdensom and he doesn't do those for anyone. He advised me to call the insurance company as it is not his problem.

He is pleasant and professional but is usually late. I waited more than an hour for him on one occasion with no explanation and I told him I didn't appreciate that. The next couple of times I didn't have to wait very long. He seems knowledgeable and gives explanation for the condition I am being treated for and has the assistant show me the way to use some of the meds.

This physician always seems rushed the first time I was in the hospital he spoke to me 30 seconds and had x-rays ordered never once did he listen to my lungs as a matter of fact he never even had a stethoscope on himself or around his neck. The bill from his office for the 30 second visit $750.00 mostly covered by the insurance. The next day he came by 22 seconds and discharged me from the hospital with pneumonia and on oral medications. and stated " the hospital did not have your x-ray results for 21 hours. That bill $925.00 for that visit and prescription. And the hospitals x-ray cost $1500.00 and the Radiology report $1250.00. not including over night stay cost $3500.00 and the 2 tylenol for a headache after this priceless.
