Worst possible doctor? He spent just 10 minutes with a new patient seeking treatment for severe depression

I have been in treatment for 30 years and wanted to find a new doctor who could offer better care for treatment-resistant, severe depression. I attempted suicide twice in 2016 and spent 40 days in a hospital. At my first appointment, Dr. Bellah had no patients waiting and spent a total of 10 minutes with me. He wasn’t interested in learning about my hospitalization for suicide and didn’t bother to seek medical records for any previous psychiatrists. All he wanted to know was what prescriptions I was currently taking so he could write refills.

Horrible doctor. Accused me of not being truthful. Went to an other doctor. She took me off all the mind altering drugs. Had a horrible reaction to one of the meds. He spent less than five minutes talking at me. But prescribed a bunch of meds. Thank my husband for recognizing how doped up a was and got me to a real doctor. He should have his liscence taken away

I have been seeing Dr.Bellah for going on 8 years now. I am 30 yrs old. I think he is a great Dr if you are serious about treatment. If you are just wanting pills, then yes go somewhere else. He is a very straight forward person and likes to get right to the point. Don't be afraid to ask questions, he is actually very easy to talk to. Just maybe all about business, dry sense of humor type of person, in my opinion!

Terrible doctor, will not go back. Accused me of lying about what doctor I saw previously. Went home and found her name off of a prescription and called to tell them just to prove I wasn't lying. He had me so upset I cried.

I liked Dr. Bellah, he took the time to listen to me and figure out what medicine I needed. I had been to a psychiatric hospital recently who had loaded me up of a buch of meds and I was so sleepy I couldn't function. Dr. Bellah figured out exactly what I needed and now I am doing really well on a lot less medicine.

Pointless to see this man. After waiting over an hour, he was in the room with me for literally 3 MINUTES! Never checked my chart, asked a question, or looked at me. "What medicine do you want?" was the only thing he said. I told him I wanted help for my problems, not just a prescription. He said to just take a pill, not even knowing what was wrong with me!! Also took 6 months to get in. If you need a quick pill, this is your guy. If you actually need to see a doctor who actually tries to help you, find somebody else. I walked out without his prescription and will not be going back. Please do not waste your time.

Dr. Bellah was very helpful to me even though I only have Medicaid. He is the only psychiatrist in Shreveport/Bossier that takes new Medicaid patients. I had to call everyone in the phone book before I got an appointment with Dr. Bellah. He took plenty of time to listen to me and discuss what he planned to do with my medications. I have depression and he was very helpful in staightening out my medications and finding me a counselor in the community that would also take my Medicaid. I like Dr. Bellah and I am going back to see him soon. Some of my friends also see Dr. Bellah and they all agree that he is one of the best psychiatrists that they have seen as he is especially good at regulating psychiatric medications.

Very unhelpful, specifically if you have medicaid, made that very clear right from the start. He actually stated that I wouldn't be able to get much help having medicaid. It was obvious he felt like he was wasting his time. I am glad to see that he is helpful to people with insurance, at least he can be of some assistance to them. A little prejudice for those who have medicaid.
