Excellent physician. Combines extensive medical knowledge with practical tools to help people cope.

We are very happy with Dr. Foster, who is the only mental health practitioner my husband's seen in the past six years (incl. another psychiatrist, two MDs and a few different therapists) to correctly diagnose my husband with Bipolar Disorder. The other doctors were prescribing medication that actually "brought out" the bipolar, or at the very least made it worse. Foster's formality and high intelligence might make him unsuitable for people seeking "warm and fuzzy," but we find him polite, empathetic, always answers questions fully, and we do not feel rushed in our half-hour appointments. (The HMO psychiatrist would see him for 15 minutes and only for medication checks, no therapy. Dr. Foster actually offers traditional, old-school psychiatric care to help people deal with their issues and not rely solely on pills to solve their problems.) We highly recommend him.

Knows nothing about benzodiazepine dependence, just writes numerous prescriptions.

Dr. Foster has been extremely helpful. He's very straight forward, and generous. Anyone who says he isn't a great doctor is misinformed. I would recommend him to anyone ready for a positive change.

he has to be the most egotistical doctor I have ever dealt with. he used my children as guinea pigs and was NEVER helpful. all he cared about was getting his $100 for 5 minutes of service. I would NEVER recommend him to anyone. If he wasn't the only psychiatrist in town that worked with children he wouldn't have any clients. If you care about your children and the care they receive don't use him. This is America and I have the right to voice my opinion regarding this doctor.
