I was assigned to him after my neurologist retired after 10 years. First impression he had not even had not even reviewed my case. So after giving him my overview and residual effects after a stroke, he stated that surely I should have been able to return to work ( but he had not even reviewed my case). Then he ordered a sleep, study even though I did not present any complaints about sleep issue, but that was his specialty so I guess it was an easy thing to bill for insurance. I will not return.

CANNOT SEE HIM WITHOUT 100 MILE TRACT THROUGH CHARLOTTE'S CRIME DISTRICT. RUDE. NOT INTERESTED. SPENDS NO TIME WITH PATIENTS. HABITUALLY LATE & STAFF ALSO. I NEED TO CHANGE DOCTORS. MY SLEEP STUDY WAS HORRIFYING. DO NOT GO HERE. HE SEEMS TO BE IN ANOTHER PLACE THAN WITH HIS PATIENTS. SAD.

Dr. Ashkin has been my neurologist for 15 years, and I'm very happy with him. It's another story with everything else at MNA. The admin staff at check-in seemed friendly... but two weeks later I found fraudulent charges on my Visa card (brand new card, only used at MNA). Great controls... makes me wonder how safe my medical records are. The patient portal website is useful, until it automatically expires your userid after 1 year. Then it's impossible to restore (well, not impossible... just impossible to GET SOMEONE AT MNA TO PICK UP THE PHONE!) Bottom line: if your situation is fairly routine, then MNA is probably fine; if not, forget anyone ever answering the phone or addressing your issue in a timely manner.

Dr. Ashkin is rude and unhelpful. He doesn't listen, he talks down to you, and he apparently doesn't even read his own notes. He almost prescribed me a drug i have a high intolerance to which was why I went to see him in the first place. He insisted my "problem" wasnt due to a medication I was on, but once I saw another doctor who switched my medication- my problem instantly stopped. The problem doesnt stop with Dr. Ashkin- the front desk staff is SO RUDE and i feel like it immediately puts me in a bad mood when I get there and remember how miserable they are. Save yourself the money, see a decent doctor who cares about you.

Office needs updating, Staff needs better customer service skills, doctor needs to know how to speak to patients humanely. Although the doctor has the knowledge, I will no longer go there...they are all about the $$$

You know those doctors that you suspect went to med school for the bucks only and now hate their work? You know how bad they suck? Just think about it.

Dr. Ashkin is an ok doctor, but his staff (both nurses and front desk) are absolutely awful in terms of helpfulness and customer service. You will never be able to call and talk to a live person, even for a simple billing or medical records questions. You'll have to leave a voicemail and in my experience the typical timeframe for getting a phone call back is 2-3 days. While I like Dr. Ashkin, the reality in today's world is that you interact with the staff far more than you do the doctor and his unhelpful staff resulted in my decision to move to another doctor in Charlotte.
