I'm almost blind in my right eye now. I can still see light but I cannot focus on anything, much less read. To fix what Poppell did to me I saw retinal & corneal surgeons in Pensacola, Mobile, Destin, Fort Walton, and Dothan and each of them told me that it was hopeless. They also said they constantly see patients that Poppell has harmed but he continues to work. I will soon be blind because Poppell damaged my retina and cornea and nothing can be done. I now wear a clear contact 24/7 just to extend the life of the cornea but it's going fast. I will soon be blind and every surgeon I saw told me it was caused by Poppell's improper and unprofessional work. He should not be allowed to continue blinding people and if you are considering using him for cataract surgery, I beg you to reconsider. Go to Pensacola or Dothan to get the work done. Don't be like me and so many others who are going blind because of an inconsiderate and unprofessional surgeon who is in the business only for the money.

I had my cataracts removed two years ago by doctor Poppell. I moved to Chicago and started seeing an eye specialist there. He told me "whoever did your cataract surgery, did a beautiful job on you." My vision is definitely better and I am no longer using glasses except for reading.
I have to say that the STAFF in Dr's office in Destin are kinda mean and unhelpful, but the Dr himself is attentive and kind.

Dr. Poppell performed Lasek Surgery on me. I was nervous in general. I asked co-workers who to use first and they all recommended him after having the same procedure. The procedure had amazing results. Minimal pain, short recovery, and no complications. I followed all post-op instructions very specifically. I highly recommend him.

Dr. botched a cataract job on my right eye by tearing the retina and nicking the cornea. I have had to endure several laser procedures, a viterectomy, a PKT, and a deterioration of my cornea which cannot be saved. I will eventually be blind in my right eye and Poppell cares nothing for the people he blinds. I wouldn't recommend anyone trust him to touch their eye. Even the optometrists in Fort Walton know how bad he is. Take my warning - stay away from Poppell. He cars only for money and nothing for you.

On June 19th 2013, Dr Poppell performed a cataract surgery on my left eye. He tore the vitreous in the left eye causing a deformed pupil. He later blamed the complications on me and that I rubbed my eye the night after the surgery. Two other surgeons’ findings have found the tear occurred during Dr Poppell surgery. My complications are blurred vision, flashes of light, and pain when entering sunlight. Since the surgery, I’ve found many other patients of Dr Poppell experienced compilations. Do not use this eye surgeon.
