I too have been extremely disappointed with the treatment I was given to remove sun damage spots from my face. Not only are they still very visible, I now have patches of red in other places on my face that she treated. It was very expensive and very unsatisfactory. I was led to believe that I would be happy with the results but I am more than disappointed. Will have to see a dermatologist now.

I agree with the comments on van Vliet's challenging manners. She is aggressive/defensive. She missed the mark on a skin biopsy and denied it. Instead chose to catastrophize it, saying the sun damage had spread and this is the reason the incision she made hadn't settled.
I waited 30 minutes in a room while I overheard her chatting about her pup (that is kept in the office and the office mgr is the petsitter) with clients who seemed more worth her time. She even gave someone a tour of her office and started to open the door of the room I was waiting for her in. Fortunately, she didn't bring him in. Total disrespect for my time. And if it's not apparent her office isn't soundproof.

Initially was sent as a referral from the family doc and have been a patient for a few years now. I've come to trust Dr van Vliet and check in every year.

If you have a skin condition you should see a dermatologist, not a plastic surgeon. She will convince you her treatments are wonderful and you will waste thousands of dollars. She does not know what she is doing. Plus she is so much more expensive that similar treatments in Victoria. I ended up going to a dermatologist and my condition immediately improved with just a brief course of an oral antibiotic. Treatments weren't necessary.

I came into Spring Skin to see Dr van Vliet to help support aging gracefully. At the Initial consult, I was first taken by how cute the clinic was, and of course how delightful Kathy was. Dr van Vliet was amazing, I told her my wishes and fears and I could tell she really listened and went right into how she could support me. I felt confident as I could see she was really committed to the same outcome and more. She created a treatment plan for me that I could do when time allowed. I got Injectables, Filler, and Broad Band Light. The BBL made my skin look radiate, and porcelain, just stunning. I was nervous about Dysport, as in the past, I had bad experiences. She was really careful, and my brow did not push down as it did before. She also added some filler to my cheek and temple, and what a difference. I am beyond grateful to have a professional Plastic Surgeon on SSI to see, with her extensive studies, and her caring demeanor we are really lucky to have her. I now look like myself, just a better version.

Dr. van Vliet should not be treating dermatologic conditions. She does not know what she is doing and you will waste thousands of dollars. She is so full of herself and will go on & on about all her degrees and experience. After spending thousands and an adverse reaction to one of her treatments, she told me to see a dermatologist. I did and all I need was a common antibiotic which immediately cleared my skin. What a waste of time and money and my face looked awful for months while waiting form my dermatologist appointment.

WARNING. Avoid Dr. D. vanVliet like the plague. In the less than 5 minutes that she devoted to my first (and definitely last) office visit, she proved herself to be an insufferably smug, insulting, rude, dismissive bully. If you read some of the other RateMD patient comments about this horrible doctor, you will find that there are many other patients who have come to similar negative conclusions about her.

Very experienced and knowledgable. Her bedside manner, however, is abysmal. I was referred to her by my doctor who sent me for one issue, and suggested she check another one while I was there. Well, I got a lecture about how she "Is a surgeon with 25 years experience and doesn't do general checks, that's what your doctor is for. I only do what I am referred to do" - in other words, don't waste my time. Noted. The next time I have an issue, I will request a different Dermatologist.
